Teen Makeup Look

This is just a quick everyday look for those in high school , or college. It is sweet, feminine, and gives a nice and polished look. Skin: First start by taking care of your skin. Cleansing, toning, and then using a good moisturizer.  Base: 1. Apply a creamy concealer under your eyes, and then a long lasting liquid concealer over any blemishes, acne scars, or red spots. Jessie's Picks: Mac Studio Finish Concealer and Maybelline 24 Super Stay Concealer. 2. Apply a tinted moisturizer over top. Applying your concealer first allows you to be more heavy handed, and then adding a light base avoids the "1 inch face" look. Jessie's Picks: Maybelline BB Cream or Mac Studio Moisture Tint 3. Apply either a cheek stain, or a coral cream blush to the cheek bones and apples of the cheeks. Blend, blend, blend! Jessie's Picks: Tarte Cheek Satin or Avon Cream Blush Stick 4. Powder your skin with a fine finishing powder, and spritz with a setting spray. Eyes:

Quick Miranda Kerr Inspired Day Look

Here is just a quick daytime look inspired by Miranda Kerr's daily makeup routine. The focus is on healthy glowing skin with lush lashes and rosy lips. Hope you enjoy! 1. Start with super nourishing moisturizer. Argan Oil or Coconut Oil are great moisturizers as well as work great as a makeup base. 2. Smooth a nourishing tinted moisturizer or bb cream all over your face and neck. Miranda's pick is her KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream. Using a tinted moisturizer allows your own flush to come through, so there isn't really a need for blush; if you would like to wear blush, pick a cream blush in a natural hue. 3. Curl your eyelashes, add apply 2-3 coats of masacara. 4. For your lips apply a sheer lipcolour in a red hue. Miranda's pick is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Rebelle. The Revlon Kissable Balm Stains would be a cheaper alternative. That's really all there is to it. Its super quick, easy, and creates a put together look in less than 10 minutes. Perfect if yo

Choosing the Perfect Shade of Eyeliner

Just a quick post to share a really neat trick that I learned. Trying to find a shade of eyeliner that suits your eye colour and makes your eyes pop is hard. So here's the trick: In a well lit room (preferably natural light), look directly into a mirror. The color around your iris is your perfect eye liner shade. Usually people have a ring of darker colour around their iris, and that is colour that I am talking about. Mine is a dark khaki brown shade. Just a fun little trick for finding an eye liner shade. xx JD Please leave me a comment let me know what you think!  If you have any questions or suggestions: Email me: jessicadonna96@gmail.com

Dressing for Your Body Type: Hourglass

If you have an hourglass shape, you are the perfect balance between a pear or apple shaped body type. You have a defined waist with equal bust and hips. When choosing outfits, look for clothes that accentuate your even proportions and your waist. Don't wear pieces that weigh down your upper or lower body. Styles that flatter "hourglass" shapes: Fitted dresses. Pick one in a bold colour or fabric, and pair it with a blazer for a night out. Short and tailored jackets. Jacket that cut or cinch at the waist will draw attention to it. Sweaters or casual clothes with a little bit of fitting. This way you can be casual and still show off your figure. For winter or fall coats, go for wrap style coats, or fit and flare. Pick most coats in a dark or neutral colour, but have one statement coat in a bold colour like cobalt. Slim V-Necked shirts or dresses. The slim v will lengthen your upper body, accentuate your bust, as well as keep you proportioned. Pair a bright v-n

Dressing for Your Body Type: Apple Shapes

If you are considered an "apple" shape, you generally have a fuller bust, broader shoulders, and a thicker mid section. However, you have slim thighs, hips, and usually arms. You are the opposite to the "pear" shape as you are "top heavy". When picking clothes, try not to draw attention to your middle, emphasize your bust and your slim hips and legs. Styles that flatter "apple" shapes: V-Neck Shirts, A-line dresses, and tops that flow out from your bust and glide over your waist. These will draw attention upwards and will elongate your torso. Try to avoid scoop and boat necked shirts, as they will cause your shoulders to appear broader. Long flowing tops/tunics that fall below your hips will accentuate your lower body, and if the have a little tie around the waist, it will give you a more defined hourglass shape. Pick solid coloured dresses, or ones with a continuous pattern. In general, smaller print patterns are more flattering. Ad

Dressing for Your Body Type: Pear Shapes

Finally a fashion post! Everyone’s body is different, and therefore different styles flatter each person. The following post series will  give general overviews of the “basic” body shapes. However, whatever you like to wear and makes you feel the best is best for you. Pear Shapes: If you are considered a pear shape, you usually have a small to medium sized bust, small-medium waist, and are largest around your thighs and hips. In other words, you are smaller on top and bigger on the bottom. Generally, wearing a dark colour minimizes, while wearing a bright colour or pattern highl ights, therefore if you are pear shaped, wearing a darker bottom and highlighting your upper body will give you the appearance of a more hourglass figure.   Styles that Flatter Pear Shapes: -           A-Line skirts or dresses . These flatter your upper body, highlight your waist, and glide over your hips and thighs, drawing less attention to them. -            Boot-Cut or Flare Jean s. The sli

My Everyday Makeup Look

Sorry I haven't posted in over a week, I was away on a trip :) Now that school has started, I have again realized how much I love sleep more than makeup. The following is my everyday makeup routine that allows me to look polished and feel pretty. This is the makeup I do on the days when I don't just wear mascara and lipbalm. Hope you enjoy! Face Makeup: 1. I start with a primer; I flit in between Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer or Hourglass No28 Primer Serum. If my skin is particularly dry I will use the serum. 2. I apply Clinique Airbrush Illuminating Concealer under my eyes, and then I apply Maybelline 24hr Super Stay Concealer on any blemishes, red spots, or dark spots. 3. I then blend Mac Studio Moisture Tint in Medium over my face with my fingers. I prefer to wear it over my concealer just in case the concealer is little to light (as I'm in between shades right now), and I find blending with my fingers doesn't disturb the concealer underneath. 4. I then dust my
