What I got for Christmas 2013:

So here's what I got (that it beauty related) for Christmas 2013: 1. Urban Decay Naked Palette. Blogmas Day 1: Kardashian Contour

Kim Kardashian's makeup is far from minimalistic, however her contouring and highlighting techniques are with trying out. Step 4: Blend away any harsh lines or visible product. Continue with your makeup as normal! This contouring will give you an oval looking face, but without any heavy powders. This is the secret to flawless Hollywood skin.

Makeup Monday (Late): Winter Dark Lip Trend

The dark lip, à la Tom Ford, is a major trend and favourite during the fall/winter season. The lipstick can range anywhere from a more wine red to a deep and dark purple. Below is a simple makeup look that would be great for an evening out, but could also be adapted for daytime. Face: 1. Start by using a luminous foundation, preferable one that is quite light. Because we are going so dark on the lips we want to keep the rest of the face very light. Jessie's Picks: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation or Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. 2. Style Spotlight: Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham's style is envied by many people in the fashion world. After a number of successful seasons, her fashion line exhibits her love of clear cut lines, neutrals, and versatility. Not everyone has a million dollar budget to spend on clothes, but if you invest in a few select and classic pieces, you can achieve Victoria Beckham's classic look with a much cheaper price tag. Victoria's style is one that flatters almost every single body type, especially petite ladies, which is one of the reasons why her fashion line is so successful. The overall goal is to have a small neutral wardrobe that is versatile, and streamlines your body.  Here are 5 general guidelines to follow, when shopping, that we can steal from Mrs. Beckham, to help us achieve this classic look: 1. Dark colours are your best friend. A dark colour recedes, therefore wearing a darker shade, like black, dark grey, or navy blue, will minimize anything you wish to hide. It will also allow you to high

Whatever Wednesdays: Victoria Beckham Hair How-To

Victoria Beckham Ponytail: With her long dark brown hair, Victoria Beckham's hairstyle of choice has become the ponytail. This style is quick, and ultra chic. 1. Start with day-old hair (or even if you are starting with freshly washed hair) and spritz with a volumizing dry shampoo. 2. Pull your hair back with your fingers, smoothing over any stray hairs. 3. Once you have your ponytail in the desired place, fasten with a hair tie. 4. Take your straightener and run it over the ends of your ponytail, to give it a sleek effect. 5. Add a tiny dot of shine serum to the ends. Simply rub the serum between your palms, and run your hands over the end of your ponytail. Voila! Tu es fini, and you have a simple and chic hairdo. xx JD Please leave me a comment let me know what you think!  If you have any questions or suggestions: Email me: jessicadonna96@gmail.com

Makeup Monday: Victoria Beckham Makeup Look

Victoria Beckham is a style icon, and personally one of my top fashion and beauty inspirations. Her fashion line boasts beautiful structure and lines. One half of Britain's "other royal family" Victoria rules the fashion world with an iron fist, having recently launched another successful denim and accessories line. Her makeup hasn't changed much from her Posh Spice days, it has only become more chic and polished. Her signature smokey eye and nude lip can be adapted for any event, outfit, day or night. Here is a lighter daytime version of her signature look that Victoria has been sporting more and more often. Face: 1. Victoria has oily skin so a primer is a must. Pop a little all over your face, making sure to blend down your neck. Jessie's Pick: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 2. Smooth a cream foundation over your face, blending it down your neck. Jessie's Picks: Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation or Rimmel Match Perfection Cream Foundation. 3. Dot

Teen Makeup Look

This is just a quick everyday look for those in high school , or college. It is sweet, feminine, and gives a nice and polished look. Skin: First start by taking care of your skin. Cleansing, toning, and then using a good moisturizer.  Base: 1. Apply a creamy concealer under your eyes, and then a long lasting liquid concealer over any blemishes, acne scars, or red spots. Jessie's Picks: Mac Studio Finish Concealer and Maybelline 24 Super Stay Concealer. 2. Apply a tinted moisturizer over top. Applying your concealer first allows you to be more heavy handed, and then adding a light base avoids the "1 inch face" look. Jessie's Picks: Maybelline BB Cream or Mac Studio Moisture Tint 3. Apply either a cheek stain, or a coral cream blush to the cheek bones and apples of the cheeks. Blend, blend, blend! Jessie's Picks: Tarte Cheek Satin or Avon Cream Blush Stick 4. Powder your skin with a fine finishing powder, and spritz with a setting spray. Eyes:

Quick Miranda Kerr Inspired Day Look

Here is just a quick daytime look inspired by Miranda Kerr's daily makeup routine. The focus is on healthy glowing skin with lush lashes and rosy lips. Hope you enjoy! 1. Start with super nourishing moisturizer. Argan Oil or Coconut Oil are great moisturizers as well as work great as a makeup base. 2. Smooth a nourishing tinted moisturizer or bb cream all over your face and neck. Miranda's pick is her KORA Organics Tinted Day Cream. Using a tinted moisturizer allows your own flush to come through, so there isn't really a need for blush; if you would like to wear blush, pick a cream blush in a natural hue. 3. Curl your eyelashes, add apply 2-3 coats of masacara. 4. For your lips apply a sheer lipcolour in a red hue. Miranda's pick is Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Rebelle. The Revlon Kissable Balm Stains would be a cheaper alternative. That's really all there is to it. Its super quick, easy, and creates a put together look in less than 10 minutes. Perfect if yo

Choosing the Perfect Shade of Eyeliner

Just a quick post to share a really neat trick that I learned. Trying to find a shade of eyeliner that suits your eye colour and makes your eyes pop is hard. So here's the trick: In a well lit room (preferably natural light), look directly into a mirror. The color around your iris is your perfect eye liner shade. Usually people have a ring of darker colour around their iris, and that is colour that I am talking about. Mine is a dark khaki brown shade. Just a fun little trick for finding an eye liner shade. xx JD Please leave me a comment let me know what you think!  If you have any questions or suggestions: Email me: jessicadonna96@gmail.com

Megan Fox Makeup: This is 40 and Friends With Kids

In both This is 40 and Friends With Kids, Megan Fox sported a very natural, and feature accenting makeup look. Its all about the natural beauty. The look is so pretty and perfect for everyday! Using a foundation brush, blend a very lightweight foundation all over your face. Try and use one of the new generation foundations, as they really look like second skin. Jessie's Pick: Yves Rocher Pure Light Foundation. 3. Conceal any blemishes or under eye circles with a liquid concealer that has good staying power. Jessie's Pick: Maybelline 24hr SuperStay Concealer. 4. Dust your face with a finely milled powder. Jesse's Pick: Clinique Stay-Matte Powder in Translucent 5. Dressing for Your Body Type: Hourglass

If you have an hourglass shape, you are the perfect balance between a pear or apple shaped body type. You have a defined waist with equal bust and hips. When choosing outfits, look for clothes that accentuate your even proportions and your waist. Don't wear pieces that weigh down your upper or lower body. Styles that flatter "hourglass" shapes: Fitted dresses. Pick one in a bold colour or fabric, and pair it with a blazer for a night out. Short and tailored jackets. Jacket that cut or cinch at the waist will draw attention to it. Sweaters or casual clothes with a little bit of fitting. This way you can be casual and still show off your figure. For winter or fall coats, go for wrap style coats, or fit and flare. Pick most coats in a dark or neutral colour, but have one statement coat in a bold colour like cobalt. Slim V-Necked shirts or dresses. The slim v will lengthen your upper body, accentuate your bust, as well as keep you proportioned. Pair a bright v-n

Dressing for Your Body Type: Apple Shapes

If you are considered an "apple" shape, you generally have a fuller bust, broader shoulders, and a thicker mid section. However, you have slim thighs, hips, and usually arms. You are the opposite to the "pear" shape as you are "top heavy". When picking clothes, try not to draw attention to your middle, emphasize your bust and your slim hips and legs. Styles that flatter "apple" shapes: V-Neck Shirts, A-line dresses, and tops that flow out from your bust and glide over your waist. These will draw attention upwards and will elongate your torso. Try to avoid scoop and boat necked shirts, as they will cause your shoulders to appear broader. Long flowing tops/tunics that fall below your hips will accentuate your lower body, and if the have a little tie around the waist, it will give you a more defined hourglass shape. Pick solid coloured dresses, or ones with a continuous pattern. In general, smaller print patterns are more flattering. Ad

Dressing for Your Body Type: Pear Shapes

Finally a fashion post! Everyone’s body is different, and therefore different styles flatter each person. The following post series will  give general overviews of the “basic” body shapes. However, whatever you like to wear and makes you feel the best is best for you. My Everyday Makeup Look

Sorry I haven't posted in over a week, I was away on a trip :) Now that school has started, I have again realized how much I love sleep more than makeup. The following is my everyday makeup routine that allows me to look polished and feel pretty. This is the makeup I do on the days when I don't just wear mascara and lipbalm. Hope you enjoy! Face Makeup: 1. I start with a primer; I flit in between Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer or Hourglass No28 Primer Serum. If my skin is particularly dry I will use the serum. 2. I apply Clinique Airbrush Illuminating Concealer under my eyes, and then I apply Maybelline 24hr Super Stay Concealer on any blemishes, red spots, or dark spots. 3. I then blend Mac Studio Moisture Tint in Medium over my face with my fingers. I prefer to wear it over my concealer just in case the concealer is little to light (as I'm in between shades right now), and I find blending with my fingers doesn't disturb the concealer underneath. 4. I then dust my

Skin Type Series: Combination Skin

Combinations Skin: There are different types, and levels of combination skin. There is dry combination skin, oily combination skin, etc. I personally have very dry cheeks and a moderately oily t-zone. When you have combination skin it is hard to find makeup that moisturizes your drier areas as well as controls oil. Here are a few products that I have tried that worked well on my dry combination skin. Please keeping mind that you know your skin best, and so choose whatever works best for you. Primers: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer This primer is my personal favourite. It creates a barrier over dry patches and it does not add any oil to my t-zone. I wouldn’t say this primer controls oil, but it definitely does not add to it. It does contain silicones, but it has yet to cause me to break out, and I have very sensitive skin. It has a creamy light consistency, and it does not feel as if you are putting a heavy product onto your face. I recommend giving the primer about 5-10 mi
