Skin Type Series: Combination Skin

Combinations Skin:

There are different types, and levels of combination skin. There is dry combination skin, oily combination skin, etc. I personally have very dry cheeks and a moderately oily t-zone. When you have combination skin it is hard to find makeup that moisturizes your drier areas as well as controls oil. Here are a few products that I have tried that worked well on my dry combination skin. Please keeping mind that you know your skin best, and so choose whatever works best for you.

Primers:
  1. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer
This primer is my personal favourite. It creates a barrier over dry patches and it does not add any oil to my t-zone. I wouldn’t say this primer controls oil, but it definitely does not add to it. It does contain silicones, but it has yet to cause me to break out, and I have very sensitive skin. It has a creamy light consistency, and it does not feel as if you are putting a heavy product onto your face. I recommend giving the primer about 5-10 minutes (if you have the time) to sink in to your skin.

  1. Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Light
This primer has a gel like formula and makes your skin feel super soft and smooth. The Smashbox primer does control oil better, and is best suited if you have a more normal-oily combination skin. I prefer the Light version of the Smashbox primer because it is not as heavy as the original. I do find this primer has a tendency to irritate sensitive skin. If you have dry patches, make sure you exfoliate regularly.

Foundations:
1. Clinque Superbalanced Makeup
This foundation is amazing, it hydrates your dry patches, and controls oil. It gives a nice natural looking finish, and has a moderate-buildable coverage. It won't irritate sensitive skin, and it will cover any redness and/or acne scars, dark marks, etc. This product works best. in my experience, when it was not set with a powder. If you are going to set it, only apply powder to the oiliest parts of your face. This product is best for those who have a more combination-oily skin type.

2. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
This is a very light foundation which gives skin a nice natural looking glow. This has a very sheer coverage, however it can be build up to a more moderate coverage. This formula isn't cakey, and does not have to be set with a powder. If you do choose to set it I recommend using a very finely milled powder.  I would recommend this product for someone with a more dry-combination skin type.

I hope this post has given some product ideas to what may be the best product for your skin. Remember you are the expert on your skin.

Summer Lace OOTD and Natural Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone! Today's OOTD is my favourite summer look. Lace, loose waves, and a natural makeup look. It was nice and warm today so I brought out one of my favourite dresses. It is from American Eagle, and was given to me by one of my friends a few years ago. I like that it is strapless as when I am outside enjoying the sunshine I don't have to worry about awkward tan lines! I went with a natural and glowing makeup look today, and I even filmed it for you! You can watch the video below. It is inspired by the gorgeous Gigi Hadid. xx Jess Instagram: jessicakinnari
