Palette Breakdown: Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

The Naked 2 palette. First palette I ever panned, and first palette I ever repurchased. ⁣⁣I bought it after I saw Anna Saccone using it back in 2012!  ⁣⁣ I plan on using it up by the end of 2020, as I transition to all vegan and cruelty free products, and I know it will be a sad day once this gorgeous palette is gone! ⁣⁣ These eyeshadows go on incredibly smooth, opaque and blend like a dream! The black shade does have quite a bit of fallout, so when I use it I always make sure to do my face makeup after I apply my eyeshadow. The cool toned shades intensify my brown eyes, which I always find is difficult to do with warm toned eyeshadows. I know that warm tones are more popular, but I’ll always be a cool toned loving gal through and through! ⁣⁣ ⁣ My fave shades are: YDK, Tease, Bootycall, Suspect, and Verve 😍⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ What was your first eyeshadow palette?

Palette Breakdown: Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette

Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette Does anyone else forget how good palettes are? And then when you finally get back to them it’s like an awakening? That’s my relationship with the Tarte Clay Play Palette! ⁣ ⁣ I rediscovered it this weekend while getting ready for a date. I wanted to do a simple, classic, matte look so broke out this palette again and immediately made it my face palette for this month’s project pan. ⁣ It’s made up of all matte eye shadow shades with three mattes bronzers. I have a particular love of matte, cool toned shades and could honestly use this palette forever and never get bored of it! ⁣ ⁣ Each shade is very pigmented, and blends like a dream. I love to use the bronzer shade desert as my contour and then blend it out with terracotta for a perfectly sculpted contour.  Tarte has come out with a Clay Play Palette Volume II which includes shimmer eyeshadows, a blush and a highlighter. If you like Tarte formulas and prefer some colour, wa...

Let's Talk: Luxury Beauty

Ooh la la! Luxury beauty products have always been a passion of mine (or addiction, depends who you ask), so I've decided to round up some of my faves and share them with you. All of these products are 1) ones I've used up and repurchased 2) products that I truly believe are worth your hard earned money. Most of them are base products, because those are the products I think you should invest in the most but I promise that I will put up some posts luxury eyes and lippie products too!  Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra-Longwear Foundation Ultra matte, ultra long wearing, ultra amazing! This is my go to foundation in the summer. It is full coverage, blends well and lasts all day. It's so matte that sometimes I skip the setting powder just wear foundation.  $63 at Sephora.  Link to buy: here  (this is an affiliate link) Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Concealer  I don't have words to describe how much I love this concealer. I've purchased it c...

My Top Three Favourite Makeup Primers

Tatcha "The Silk Canvas" Primer:  Welcome to bougie-ville! We've all heard the hype around this product, makeup artists, influencers, bloggers, YouTubers, and aunties everywhere were talking about back in 2018 – and I'm hear to tell you that it's 100% worth the hype!  This primer helps my makeup last, keep my face from getting oily throughout the day, and is like an added step of skincare. I even wear it when I am not wearing foundation (or any makeup at all) as it helps to protect your skin from pollutants, and gives your skin a velvety finish!  $68 at Sephora.  Link to buy:  here.   (please note this is an affiliate link) Arbonne Makeup Primer I've recently jumped onboard the Arbonne makeup train, and this primer is one of my fave products from their line. It's vegan, gluten free, and of course cruelty free. A tiny amount goes a long way, and I apply it to my t-zone and the areas where I have larger pores. I will ...

Drugstore Fall Makeup Essentials

Fall is one of my favourite seasons to play with makeup! You're no longer dealing with the humidity, sweat on your face, with makeup melting off of it no matter how much powder you use. Matte foundations become your best friend again, you break out those old dark lipsticks and get to finally unleash your inner Morticia.  I thought that I would breakdown some of my favourite drugstore makeup products to use in the Fall:  Foundation: L' Oreal Lumi Foundation in 203. ⁣ ⁣ Concealer: Maybelline Eye Eraser Concealer ⁣ ⁣ Powder: Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder in 10⁣ ⁣ Bronzer and Crease shade: NYX Bronzer in Medium ⁣ ⁣ Blush: Milani Tea Rose ⁣ Highlight and eyeshadow: Maybelline Molten Rose Gold Highlight⁣ ⁣ Eyeliner: L'Oreal Liquid Eyeliner ⁣ ⁣ Mascara: Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara ⁣ ⁣ Lip liner: Rimmel Tiramisu Lipstick: L'Oreal Shining Peach  ⁣ ⁣ Setting Spray: NYX Matte Setting Spray ⁣

Everyday Makeup Routine and OOTD: Lace, Leopard, and Red Lips

Hello everyone! I bring you yet another lace filled ootd. If you can't tell, lace is my favourite, and so is leopard print... So I combined both today! My dress is from a thrift store, so I'm not sure what brand it is, but I've never really liked how it looked on me, I found that it drew attention right to my hip area which seemed unflattering. I decided to give it another try and I think it is actually quite cute, even if it is a little unflattering. My shoes are from the Gap and were a Christmas gift from my parents. A big addition to my leopard family these shoes help to fuel my obsession with the print, and believe me, I own a lot of leopard.  My hair is still a bit wavy from curling it two days ago, and on my lips is Rimmel Apocalips Lips Lacquer in Big Bang.  If you want to see how I did my makeup like this you can watch the video below. It is super simple, and as there is nothing on the eyes it is great if you are having a lazy day.  ...

Summer Lace OOTD and Natural Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone! Today's OOTD is my favourite summer look. Lace, loose waves, and a natural makeup look. It was nice and warm today so I brought out one of my favourite dresses. It is from American Eagle, and was given to me by one of my friends a few years ago. I like that it is strapless as when I am outside enjoying the sunshine I don't have to worry about awkward tan lines! I went with a natural and glowing makeup look today, and I even filmed it for you! You can watch the video below. It is inspired by the gorgeous Gigi Hadid. xx Jess Instagram: jessicakinnari

Makeup Monday: Dramatic Midnight Smokey Eye- Prom, Clubbing, Wedding

Hello everyone! I know most people's prom season is over, but I still wanted to film a more dramatic makeup look for you. So I tried to create one that was versatile and not too "prom-ish". This eye makeup is very dark but it will work for all skin tones and I used all drugstore eye products, so yay-affordable!  You can watch the video here : Face: Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance Estee Lauder Double Wear Light in 2 Covergirl Translucent Powder Rimmel Highlighting Concealer Elf Bronzer in St Lucia How I did the eyes: 1. I primed my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden.  2. I applied Annabelle Kohl Eye Liner in Black Ink all over my eyelid, and then blended it with a flat eye shadow brush. I also ran it underneath my eye and blended it out.  3. Over top of the blended liner I applied a shimmery dark blue eyeshadow from Avon all over my lid, and aalong my lower lashline. By putting the eyeliner underneath it int...

Rainy OOTD + May Favourites!

Today's OOTD features my new good friend- Mr. Umbrella. It has been raining a lot here recently, and the grey dreariness reflects my mood lately, so I ventured just outside my front door to quickly snap some outfit pictures. This outfit is very comfortable, and to be honest, I put my makeup on and got dressed at #pm just to take these pictures. My dress is from Forever 21, shoes are from Aldo, and on my lips is Mac's Velvet Teddy which is definitely a new favourite. It has been in my makeup bag for ages and I never really loved it. Now it's matte texture and perfect warm beige is my go to.  For today's Whatever Wednesday video I filmed for you my May Favourites. You can watch the video here . Spring Bright Lips Trend 2015

From L-R: Yves Rocher Sheer and Shine Lipstick in No1, Revlon Just Kissable Balm Stain in Audacious and Lovesick, Yves Rocher Rouge D'Ragee in No 66, Revlon Lipstick in Siren  Welcome to March! Which also means Happy Spring! Although if your weather is anything like where I live it still feels like the dead of winter. But that doesn't mean that we can't embrace the warm and sunny lipsticks that go along with Spring (and maybe the nice Spring weather will take the hint and make an appearance).  There are so many options out there so it is impossible not to find something for everyone. And none of the choices have to be expensive, all of the lip colours pictured are from the drugstore yet are still fantastic quality and have great pigmentation.  The many different (and cheaper) options can help try out all sorts of different colours, and formulas. An opaque lipstick can be a little scary, so it may be best to start off with a more sheer formula. There are ma...

Grey Day Makeup: Using the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette

(Photo courtesy Pinterest) Hello lovely readers! I love grey cold days, and winter in Canada has plenty of those. There is nothing better then being curled up inside while it is cold, grey and rainy outside. Every time the weather is like this I do the same makeup look. It is a gold and bronze smokey eye, with a peachy/pink cheek, and a neutral or red lip (depending on my mood). It is very simple, and takes about 10-15min. It pairs nicely with grey, black, burgundy and cream coloured clothes, so it is super versatile. It also works with most hairstyles, but I prefer to wear my hair straight with this look, as I just think it looks best on me. Face: 1. Start with a foundation primer and apply it all over your face. Choose one that best fits your skin type and skincare needs. For oily skin, Benefit's The Porefessional is great, it fills in your pores and makes your skin appear airbrushed. If you have a normal skin type I'd recommend Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, ...

Soft Warm Winter Makeup

Today's makeup look is inspired by all the cosy Winter knits. It is soft, gold, and glowing, kind of like firelight. The eyes are a shimmery soft gold and champagne, paired with peachy gold cheeks, and lips. Face: 1. Start with a moisturizing face primer, and using a flat foundation brush blend it all over your face. Try: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer or Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation Primer. 2. Using the same brush blend a tinted moisturizer into your skin, making sure to bring it down the next. By using more hydrating base products it will protect your skin from all the harsh drying elements of winter. If you don't have a tinted moisturizer simple mix a little bit of your face moisturizer into your foundation or concealer. Try: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer or Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer. 3. Dab a luminous concealer underneath your eyes in a v-shape to highlight, around your nose, and above the browbone. Take the foundation brush...

Jennifer Stano David Makeup Look

(Courtesy of jenniferstano.com) Hello lovely readers! I have recently discovered Jennifer Stano David's blog and I am in love with her and her writing style. She is the owner and designer of the amazing Have Faith Swimgerie and married to very successful business man Alki David. Her everyday makeup look is gorgeous, very natural and pretty, so I thought I would recreate it. I'm going to recreate her look from around 2010 as that was one of my favourites.  Face: 1. Start off by washing, toning, and moisturizing your face. This will create a fresh and clean blank canvas to work on.  2. Apply your favourite light-medium coverage concealer underneath your eyes, around your nose, and onto any blemishes. Then using your fingers or a brush pat the concealer until it blends seamlessly into your skin.  3. On a super fluffy face or bronzer brush take a slightly shimmery bronzer and buff it beneath your cheekbones, sides of your forehead, and along your jawline. T...

Warm and Cosy Autumn Nature Inspired Makeup Look

Autumn is my absolute favourite season! I love the weather, fashion, makeup, and of course all the delicious food. Today's makeup look a daytime look inspired by the warm colours of nature during autumn. It focuses on warm eyes, healthy looking skin, and a warm lip.  Face: 1. Start with a medium coverage matte or semi-matte finish foundation and using your fingers or a brush, blend the product into your skin. If you have fairly good skin don't apply foundation everywhere, just dab it where you need a little coverage or skip this step all together.  Clinique Even Better Foundation or Maybelline Superstay 24hr Foundation. 2.  To brighten up your under eye area and keep you looking fresh and awake, apply a light concealer underneath your eyes in a V shape. This will bring light to the centre of the face and appear as a more natural highlight. Apply concealer around your nose, and onto your eye lid to act as a base. Blend out t...

Makeup Monday: Berry Lip and Glowing Skin Makeup

Hello everyone! Welcome to Makeup Monday, it is time to break out your berry lip shades as we are going to create and ethereal and earthy makeup look. The focus is on glowing skin and deep berry stained lips. Face: 1. Start off with a moderate to full coverage foundation and apply it with your favourite foundation brush. We want the skin to be as flawless as possible. I used Clinique Even Better Makeup in Golden Neutral, and applied it with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.  2. Contour the face using a matte bronzer and an angled brush. Focus on contouring underneath the cheekbones, then lightly contour the sides of your forehead and under your jaw. I used the bronzer shade from the Elf Contouring Blush and Bronzer duo in St Lucia .  3. Next pick a shimmery peach blush and using a big, fluffy face brush dust it onto the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards.Look for a very shimmery and light blush as this will enhance your glow and keep with the natu...
