Hello lovely readers! I love grey cold days, and winter in Canada has plenty of those. There is nothing better then being curled up inside while it is cold, grey and rainy outside. Every time the weather is like this I do the same makeup look. It is a gold and bronze smokey eye, with a peachy/pink cheek, and a neutral or red lip (depending on my mood).
It is very simple, and takes about 10-15min. It pairs nicely with grey, black, burgundy and cream coloured clothes, so it is super versatile. It also works with most hairstyles, but I prefer to wear my hair straight with this look, as I just think it looks best on me.
Face:
1. Start with a foundation primer and apply it all over your face. Choose one that best fits your skin type and skincare needs. For oily skin, Benefit's The Porefessional is great, it fills in your pores and makes your skin appear airbrushed. If you have a normal skin type I'd recommend Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, I have a travel size of this and I am in love with it. It makes your face so smooth, it has SPF15, and is waterproof. For my fellows who also have dry skin, Hourglass No28 Serum is a gift from heaven. I also had a travel size of this and used it every single day, sadly I have run out :(

2. Next apply a natural finish medium-full coverage foundation, all over your face. I prefer to use my fingers instead of a brush, and apply the product to the centre of my face then blending outwards. This gives the most coverage near the centre of the face and sheers it out as you approach your hairline/jawline. I always use L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation, this foundation does run quite dark and has more of a neutral undertone.
3. Moving on to concealer; pick a light coverage highlighting concealer and apply it underneath your eyes, around your nose, above your eyebrows, and down the centre of your nose. This will bring added light to all of these areas, and will help to lift your face. I use Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous Concealer, these concealers are A LOT lighter coloured than most. I use the shade Light /Medium when I am around an NC20 in the winter. This is great for really fair people, however they don't have a good shade range if you are even slightly more of a medium-dark skin tone, which is rather unfortunate as this is a great product.
4. Set your face makeup with a translucent powder and a fluffy face brush. Rimmel Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder is my go to powder! It doesn't make your face look cakey, and it does exactly what it claims to do: keep your face matte for up to 5 hours.
5. Contour your face using a matte contouring powder or a bronzer. Benefit Hoola is the best if you have fair skin, Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder for medium skin, and Nars Bronzer in Casino for dark skin.
6. To brighten up your face add a shimmery peachy/pink blush to your cheekbones and apples of your cheeks. For me there is only one blush for this and that it cult favourite Nars Orgasm. However, I've heard good things about Estee Lauder Pure Color Blush in Peach Passion.
7. To finish of the face it is time to fill in our eyebrows. Take an angled brush, a brow powder and fill in your eyebrows using short, gentle, upwards strokes. Benefit's Brow Zings and Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duos are great options for brow powders.
Eyes:
1. Prime your lids using a neutral coloured eye shadow primer or base. I use Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion in Eden, it is the perfect creamy matte shade. Mac Prep and Prime for eyes also work well and they are available for all different skintones.

2. Crack open your trusty Urban Decay Naked2 Palette, and using a flat eye shadow brush apply Bootycall to you brow bone and inner corners. A dupe for this eye shadow would be Mac Eye Shadow in Shroom or the Brow colour in Wet n' Wild's Walking on Eggshells trio.
3. Flip over the brush and pat Snakebite onto your eye lid. Suspect is a gold/bronze shade, a good dupe is Mac's Tempting eye shadow.
4. Blend Pistol through your crease to add a smokey effect. Pistol is a shimmery dark grey shade and a good dupe is the lid shade from Almay's Smokey Eye Trio for Hazels.
5. On a flat eye liner brush take a mixture of Snakebite and Pistol and run it along your lower lashline. Add a hint more of Pistol to the outer third of your lower lashline.
6. Line your top lashline with a creamy black pencil eye liner. I use Urban Decay's 24/7 eye liner pencil in Perversion. A good dupe is Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Eye Liner in Black.
7. Curl your eyelashes and apply 2-3 coats of black mascara. Covergirl Lashblast Volume in Black, enough said.
Lips:
For the lips I always flip between two lip colours: Rimmel's Airy Fairy and Maybelline's Very Cherry. If I choose Airy Fairy I will first line my lips with a neutral pink lip liner from Yves Rocher.
That is the completed look! I shall try and film a video tutorial of it, however due to the dreary weather the lighting for videos is not the greatest. But we shall see what we can do, no promises!
xx
