Drugstore Haul (Rimmel, Maybelline, and Hard Candy)

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a restful and enjoyable Sunday. The nice, warmer weather is still here so I am enjoying it while it lasts. Today I decided to do a mini haul post for you, mostly lipsticks but a new concealer as well. Rimmel is my favourite drugstore lipstick brand and as you can see I bought another three of their lipsticks.    I picked up two of the new Rimmel lipsticks from their Moisture Renew range. I think they released these a few years ago, then discontinued them, but now it seems they have brought them back. I got As You Want Victoria which is a blue based bright fuchsia which seems perfect for grey winter days, and Summer Angel which is a very shimmery peachy nude. Truthfully, I only bought Summer Angel because it was Anna Saccone favourite of the line... Not really sure how I actually feel about it, but maybe it will grow on me and I think it will be lovely in the summer. I don't recommend buying lipstick this way, pick ones that you like

Style Saturday: Capes and Knits

Happy Saturday! Today it was 5 degrees here so I finally got to break out my cape. I've been seeing them in all of the magazines and cursing Canadian weather for being so cold. But alas my luck has changed and we have had a warm spell! This cape I bought at a vintage store about 5 years ago and haven't really worn it until now, but my style has developed since then and I thought I'd be more daring and try it. My jeans are from H&M, the knit sweater was a Christmas present, it is from American Eagle, and I really like the way that the different textures of the cape and sweater make the outfit more interesting. My boots we just bought today and they are from the Shoe Company.  I haven't been wearing makeup much this week since I am just at home and I really didn't feel like putting on makeup just to take these pictures, so it is just my face in these pictures. On my nails is Rimmel's Chic Chick, and I curled my hair with the BeLissPro Cu

How to Apply Eyeliner (Pencil AND Gel)

Eyeliner seems to be the bane of every non-makeup addicts existence... Although maybe some makeup addicts as well. So many people have told me that they don't wear eye liner because it terrifies them and they don't know how to do it. So instead of telling each person how to apply eyeliner, I thought that it would be way easier to make a video! So I made my brother hold a camera for 15min so I could film this spectacle.  You can watch that step by step video  here . (Please excuse the shaky camera, my poor brother had no tripod to help him) A few misconceptions about eyeliner: 1. NO you will not poke your eye out. 2. Black is NOT the shade for everyone. If you are anything but dark haired please, please, please wear brown, grey or blue... Anything but black! it is not flattering at all if you are very fair. 3. Liquid liner is NOT the only way to get a dramatic or daytime look. I honestly prefer Gel/Cream and pencil liner... Liquid is just plain scary!

Grey and Cranberry OOTD

Time to take pictures with the snow while it's still here! The weather forecast is predicting a rainy Christmas so I thought I should take advantage of the pretty snow while I could. Please observe the staple ice covered tree branches as well. Today was spent with my family doing a few last minute Christmas things and eating 5 more cupcakes.  I decided, yet again, to be comfy so I just wore a classic knit sweater and jeans. My jeans are from H&M and the sweater is from Fairweather (I also have it in a number of other shades). For makeup I used my Avon Perfect Color Palette in Cool which has a gorgeous range of aubergine eye shadows and cool pink blushes. My hair did its own thing today after I took down from a french braid, so I kind of just went with it. Definitely thinking about changing up the colour soon, as much as I love my ombre I think it is time for a change. Suggestions?   xo Jess Twitter: @jessicadonna_ Youtube: Jessica Kinnari Instagram

Sweets Sunday: Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Cupcakes

Today marked the start of the holiday baking! My brother and made these delicious chocolate chip cheesecake filled cupcakes. I even found cute and glamourous cupcake tins although they aren't very festive. My family love cheesecake and sweets/baked goods in general so naturally these were a hit. I myself am not that much a of a sweets person, I personally prefer more salty snacks, but I have to admit that I have already eaten 2 of these, and had to really flex my self control not to have another. This recipe is from bettycrocker.com and you can find it here .  Let me know if you bake these delicious cupcakes with the hashtag #sweetssunday.  Hope you and your family are having a restful Sunday! xo Jess Twitter: @jessicadonna_ Youtube: Jessica Kinnari Instagram: jessicakinnari

Style Saturday: Winter Woollies

Welcome to Style Saturday! Today was nice, sunny and only -12 (yes you read that right). It's my first full day home for the Winter break so I spent it enjoying my family and decorating our Christmas tree. I decided to be comfy today so I chose to wear a warm knit turtlenecked jumper and some high-waisted jeans. The knit sweater is my Mom's and I think quite old so I'm not too sure wear it if from; it has really nice detailing on the sleeves and that just makes the sweater a little bit more glam. The jeans are from Sirens and are very stretchy. I prefer the dark wash jeans as they hide a multitude of sins like that half round of cheese I just ate . Even though they are highwaisted they are still comfortable to sit in and that is a win in my books. The outfit was super comfy, simple and warm which is perfect for our Canadian winter.  For my beauty routine I kept it very simple with well moisturized skin, natural makeup and I just wore my hair in a ponytail.

Grey Day Makeup: Using the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette

(Photo courtesy Pinterest) Hello lovely readers! I love grey cold days, and winter in Canada has plenty of those. There is nothing better then being curled up inside while it is cold, grey and rainy outside. Every time the weather is like this I do the same makeup look. It is a gold and bronze smokey eye, with a peachy/pink cheek, and a neutral or red lip (depending on my mood). It is very simple, and takes about 10-15min. It pairs nicely with grey, black, burgundy and cream coloured clothes, so it is super versatile. It also works with most hairstyles, but I prefer to wear my hair straight with this look, as I just think it looks best on me. Face: 1. Start with a foundation primer and apply it all over your face. Choose one that best fits your skin type and skincare needs. For oily skin, Benefit's The Porefessional is great, it fills in your pores and makes your skin appear airbrushed. If you have a normal skin type I'd recommend Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer,

Soft Warm Winter Makeup

Today's makeup look is inspired by all the cosy Winter knits. It is soft, gold, and glowing, kind of like firelight. The eyes are a shimmery soft gold and champagne, paired with peachy gold cheeks, and lips. Face: 1. Start with a moisturizing face primer, and using a flat foundation brush blend it all over your face. Try: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer or Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation Primer. 2. Using the same brush blend a tinted moisturizer into your skin, making sure to bring it down the next. By using more hydrating base products it will protect your skin from all the harsh drying elements of winter. If you don't have a tinted moisturizer simple mix a little bit of your face moisturizer into your foundation or concealer. Try: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer or Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer. 3. Dab a luminous concealer underneath your eyes in a v-shape to highlight, around your nose, and above the browbone. Take the foundation brush

Jennifer Stano David Makeup Look

(Courtesy of jenniferstano.com) Hello lovely readers! I have recently discovered Jennifer Stano David's blog and I am in love with her and her writing style. She is the owner and designer of the amazing Have Faith Swimgerie and married to very successful business man Alki David. Her everyday makeup look is gorgeous, very natural and pretty, so I thought I would recreate it. I'm going to recreate her look from around 2010 as that was one of my favourites.  Face: 1. Start off by washing, toning, and moisturizing your face. This will create a fresh and clean blank canvas to work on.  2. Apply your favourite light-medium coverage concealer underneath your eyes, around your nose, and onto any blemishes. Then using your fingers or a brush pat the concealer until it blends seamlessly into your skin.  3. On a super fluffy face or bronzer brush take a slightly shimmery bronzer and buff it beneath your cheekbones, sides of your forehead, and along your jawline. To matc

Warm and Cosy Autumn Nature Inspired Makeup Look

Autumn is my absolute favourite season! I love the weather, fashion, makeup, and of course all the delicious food. Today's makeup look a daytime look inspired by the warm colours of nature during autumn. It focuses on warm eyes, healthy looking skin, and a warm lip.  Face: 1. Start with a medium coverage matte or semi-matte finish foundation and using your fingers or a brush, blend the product into your skin. If you have fairly good skin don't apply foundation everywhere, just dab it where you need a little coverage or skip this step all together.  Clinique Even Better Foundation or Maybelline Superstay 24hr Foundation. 2.  To brighten up your under eye area and keep you looking fresh and awake, apply a light concealer underneath your eyes in a V shape. This will bring light to the centre of the face and appear as a more natural highlight. Apply concealer around your nose, and onto your eye lid to act as a base. Blend out the product with your finge

Makeup Monday: Berry Lip and Glowing Skin Makeup

Hello everyone! Welcome to Makeup Monday, it is time to break out your berry lip shades as we are going to create and ethereal and earthy makeup look. The focus is on glowing skin and deep berry stained lips. Face: 1. Start off with a moderate to full coverage foundation and apply it with your favourite foundation brush. We want the skin to be as flawless as possible. I used Clinique Even Better Makeup in Golden Neutral, and applied it with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.  2. Contour the face using a matte bronzer and an angled brush. Focus on contouring underneath the cheekbones, then lightly contour the sides of your forehead and under your jaw. I used the bronzer shade from the Elf Contouring Blush and Bronzer duo in St Lucia .  3. Next pick a shimmery peach blush and using a big, fluffy face brush dust it onto the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards.Look for a very shimmery and light blush as this will enhance your glow and keep with the natural earth

Fashion Friday: Rainy Day Jeans and Plaid Shirt

Hello everyone! Today's Fashion Friday is another outfit of the day. Today was very grey and a little rainy so I wanted to wear something that didn't take tons if brain power to come up with. I chose classic dark wash skinny jeans and a plaid button up. This button up is tailored at the back which makes it more feminine and flattering, and all I did was roll up the sleeves to make it less "dowdy" looking. My jeans are from American Eagle, the top is from Stitches, and I just wore my "cheapies" from Walmart. "Cheapies"= cheap comfy shoes. On my lips I'm wearing Revlon Soft Nude, and on my nails I have Sally Hanson Red Carpet nail colour.  On another note: I reached 10 subscribers on YouTube! And that just made my day, thank you so much and if you haven't subscribed make sure you do because there will be a giveaway once I reach 100 subscribers. This look is great for school, church, or for running errands. Face: 1. Start off with a matte or semi-matte foundation and apply it all over your face, making sure to blend it down your neck. I used Vichy Norma Teint Foundation this is a serum foundation that helps to control oil and prevent blemishes. 2. Next take an angled brush with a matte bronzer and contour your cheekbones, sides of your forehead, and underneath your job. I used the Elf Contouring Bronzer in St Lucia , this is a dark bronze with a little bit of shimmer, very similar to Nars Laguna. 3. Take a shimmery peach blush and apply it to the apples of your cheeks and blend upwards. I used the blush from the Elf Contouring Blush and Bronzer in St Lucia , very similar to Nars Amour . Eyes: 1. Choose a matching brow powder and using a small angled brush fill in your

Style Saturday: OOTD

My photographer was getting fancy with the camera. Hello everyone! Welcome to my first OOTD post. Today I went for a simple classic outfit. I wanted to be comfortable as I was just going to be around my house and running a few errands. So ultra glamour wasn't need.  I paired my black skirt from TopShop with a turquoise detailed top from Fairweather, and my shoes were just simple black wedges from Walmart (they were only $5). I also filmed a video about how to dress your "pear" bodyshape. I have a detailed post about this body type already written, and you can find that here . This outfit is great if your pear shaped because it highlights your waist and minimizes the hip area. The splash of colour uptop draws the eyes upwards.  I hope you enjoyed this post and I look forward to posting more about fashion and personal style, I'll leave with this super cute pic of my sweet doggy.  My sweetheart decided he wanted to show off his newly g
