Skin Type Series: Combination Skin

Combinations Skin: There are different types, and levels of combination skin. There is dry combination skin, oily combination skin, etc. I personally have very dry cheeks and a moderately oily t-zone. When you have combination skin it is hard to find makeup that moisturizes your drier areas as well as controls oil. Here are a few products that I have tried that worked well on my dry combination skin. Please keeping mind that you know your skin best, and so choose whatever works best for you. Primers: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer This primer is my personal favourite. It creates a barrier over dry patches and it does not add any oil to my t-zone. I wouldn’t say this primer controls oil, but it definitely does not add to it. It does contain silicones, but it has yet to cause me to break out, and I have very sensitive skin. It has a creamy light consistency, and it does not feel as if you are putting a heavy product onto your face. I recommend giving the primer about 5-10 mi

Skin Type Series: Dry Skin

When you have dry skin, you  have to find products that will hydrate your skin without clinging to your dry patches, or dry your skin out even more. Remember to start with a skin regime that is tailored to your skin. Primer: If your foundation stays well without primer your can skip this step. 1. Laura Mercier Hydrating Foundation Primer This is lightly hydrating primer that creates a barrier between your skin and the makeup, it works well with sensitive skin. 2. Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Primer This is silicone free and won't irritate sensitive skin. The primer has a cooling effect which helps tight and dry skin feel more nourished and hydrated. Foundation: Look for foundations that say: luminous, illuminating, hydrating, etc. These foundations will give your skin a glow, take away from any dullness your skin may have, and will glide over any dry patches. 1. Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse This is a creamy moisturizing formula, that glides over dry patches whe

Skin Type Series: Oily/Acne Prone Skin

Oh the joys of having oily and/or acne prone skin. Believe me, I had it for quite a while (my skin has gotten progressively drier yet I still get occasional spots). No one wants to feel like they are melting, or have to worry all day about blotting. But the fact is that for some people, even after puberty, there skin is oily. This article is strictly about makeup products that I have personally used, that helped me when my skin was broken out, or going through its oily stage. A couple things to keep in mind, oily skin does still need a moisturizer, I used Nivea Soft Moisturizer. I found using a heavier moisturizer helped with my pimples, but of course only do what works for your skin, you know it best. Primers: I truthfully never used one until recently, I personally found that they irritated my skin, and did not help with controlling oil. However, I found a couple of mattifying moisturizers, that worked miracles. I would (and still do) mix them with my foundation, and I found thi

Top 10 Drugstore Products

I have tried give an equal amount of each "type" of product (i.e face, nails, eyes etc) These are my tried and true Top Ten Drugstore Favourites: 1. Maybelline Super Stay 24hr Foundation This stuff is amazing, it gives medium to full matte coverage. It does have a bit of a heavier texture, however I usually mix it with moisturizer to create a tinted moisturizer that still has amazing coverage. 2. Rimmel London Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze I just bought a new one of these not that long ago and you can already see the pan. This bronzer is perfect for my fair skin, it is matte so it is perfect for contouring in the winter, or an all over glow in the summer. 3.  Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in #677 Siren Ever since Jessica Alba wore that gorgeous orange lip to the Golden Globes, I have been obsessing over wearing a corally orange lip for most formal events. This lip stick can be worn during the day as a casual bright lip, or with glamourous waves for a night out

Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Campaign Makeup

I know it is and old campaign, but I have always loved the look. So, I decided I would write a quick (or maybe not so quick) tutorial about it. It's a glowing, bronze, summery look; which is everything I need right now since it has been getting quite cold where I live. Face: 1. Start by mixing a bronze illuminator in with your foundation, a liquid bronzer works perfectly well if you don't have one. Preferably pick one that has SPF.  Jessie's Picks: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector SPF 25++ in Topaz. Clinique Even Better Foundation SPF 15. 2. If  you like you can now powder your face with a very fine finishing powder.  Jessie's Picks: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. Make Up For Ever HD Powder Eyes: 1. Apply a dark bronze cream eye shadow all over your eyelid. Then take a fluffy eye shadow brush, and blend the edges and the crease, softening all harsh edges. Jessie's Picks: Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Fuller Fudge 2. Run a bit of the cream s

Fall 2013 Red Eye Makeup Trend

This Fall, red based plum eye shadows were seen  on almost all of the runways. This fall you may want to incorporate this shade into your daily makeup, but don't it to be too harsh. Here are some ideas of how to get the on-trend plum eye, but in a classy, and minimalist way. Mix the Textures: Mixing/layering different textures will make the red toned eye makeup more wearable. For example using shimmery cream shadow all over your lid, and then layering a matte shadow in the crease and outer corner. OR Try just wearing a dampened plum red eyeshadow as a liner, or a light wash over your lids. If you are planning on going full out and bold on your eyes, make sure  to keep your skin and lips very light, so as not to have them fighting for focus.
