Skin Type Series: Oily/Acne Prone Skin

Oh the joys of having oily and/or acne prone skin. Believe me, I had it for quite a while (my skin has gotten progressively drier yet I still get occasional spots). No one wants to feel like they are melting, or have to worry all day about blotting. But the fact is that for some people, even after puberty, there skin is oily. This article is strictly about makeup products that I have personally used, that helped me when my skin was broken out, or going through its oily stage.

A couple things to keep in mind, oily skin does still need a moisturizer, I used Nivea Soft Moisturizer. I found using a heavier moisturizer helped with my pimples, but of course only do what works for your skin, you know it best.

Primers:
I truthfully never used one until recently, I personally found that they irritated my skin, and did not help with controlling oil. However, I found a couple of mattifying moisturizers, that worked miracles. I would (and still do) mix them with my foundation, and I found this to make a matte tinted moisturizer.

1. Garnier Shine Control Moisturizer. This comes out blue, and quite thick, but don't be scared! It is very hydrating, yet it keeps your skin matte for a very long time. Obviously if you mix it with a more oily/dewy foundation, your face will be less matte. I personally have found that mixing it with a satin or natural finish foundation, kept me matte the longest. This is a great moisturizer, that does not dry out the skin. Price: $9.99

2. Yves Rocher Ultra Matt Shine Reducing Moisturizer
This a light feeling gel moisturizer which first off smells like heaven! It also leaves your skin feeling super soft moisturized without looking shiny at all. Works great mixed with all foundations I have tried, and if your were to use this as your daily moisturizer, and then use the tinted moisturizer with the Garnier moisturizer, you would be set all day. Price: $27 however about 4 times a year Yves Rocher has a sale, and it goes down to $16.50

Foundation:
Like I said before, I would mix my liquid foundations with my mattifying moisturizer.

1. Clinique Even Better Foundation SPF15
This foundation dries to a semi-matte finish by itself, and it has great moderate-full coverage. It does not cling to dry patches, or look oily when applied.

2. Maybelline 24hr Super Stay Foundation
This foundation is a matte full coverage foundation, the only downside I found was that it transferred quite a lot, so beware when hugging people.

3.Mac Studio Fix Powder Foundation
Apply this foundation over top of your mattifying moisturizer, and then spray with a setting spray. You will literally look as if you are wearing no foundation at all.

Setting Sprays:
To use over powder foundation, this will allow you to build up the coverage without looking powdery and/or cakey.

1. Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray.

2. Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray.

I hope this helps! And just to reiterate, all of this is my own opinion based on my own research and findings.

Makeup Monday: Victoria Beckham Makeup Look

Victoria Beckham is a style icon, and personally one of my top fashion and beauty inspirations. Her fashion line boasts beautiful structure and lines. One half of Britain's "other royal family" Victoria rules the fashion world with an iron fist, having recently launched another successful denim and accessories line. Her makeup hasn't changed much from her Posh Spice days, it has only become more chic and polished. Her signature smokey eye and nude lip can be adapted for any event, outfit, day or night. Here is a lighter daytime version of her signature look that Victoria has been sporting more and more often. Face: 1. Victoria has oily skin so a primer is a must. Pop a little all over your face, making sure to blend down your neck. Jessie's Pick: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 2. Smooth a cream foundation over your face, blending it down your neck. Jessie's Picks: Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation or Rimmel Match Perfection Cream Foundation. 3. Dot
