Dressing for Your Body Type: Pear Shapes

Finally a fashion post!
Everyone’s body is different, and therefore different styles flatter each person. The following post series will  give general overviews of the “basic” body shapes. However, whatever you like to wear and makes you feel the best is best for you.

Pear Shapes:
If you are considered a pear shape, you usually have a small to medium sized bust, small-medium waist, and are largest around your thighs and hips. In other words, you are smaller on top and bigger on the bottom. Generally, wearing a dark colour minimizes, while wearing a bright colour or pattern highlights, therefore if you are pear shaped, wearing a darker bottom and highlighting your upper body will give you the appearance of a more hourglass figure.

Styles that Flatter Pear Shapes:
-         A-Line skirts or dresses. These flatter your upper body, highlight your waist, and glide over your hips and thighs, drawing less attention to them.
-         Boot-Cut or Flare Jeans. The slight flare at the bottom will balance out your curvier thighs and hips. Pair it with a bold or statement top to appear better proportioned.
-         Tunic Style Dresses. Pair them with leggings and a belt to give you shape. Pick a light airy fabric that will glide over your hips; adding a belt helps draw attention to your waist.
- Pencil Skirts. As long as it is paired with a belt and a top that draws attention to your upper body and slim waist, a dark coloured pencil skirt is lovely way to show off your curves, without feeling like you appear bottom-heavy.

When thinking of casual weekend wear, dark leggings with a big comfy sweater is a double hit. The dark leggings minimize your bottom half, and the big comfy sweater adds bulk to your top half, as well as skims over your hips and thighs.

New Year's Eve is the perfect day/night to sport sparkling silver eye makeup, and who better to look to than Kim Kardashian. Eyes: 1. Prep your eye with a base. Be it a cream shadow, a paint pot, or an actual eye shadow primer, it does not matter, it just gives the  eye shadow  and glitter something to adhere to. Jessie's Picks: Urban Decay Primer Potion. If you want to check out Anna's blog click  here  (her blog is obviously in Norwegian so you'll have to press the translate button). I searched her blog and tried to use the same products that she does. Let's get started on her makeup look! Face: 1. Start with your favourite face primer. Makeup Monday: Victoria Beckham Makeup Look

Victoria Beckham is a style icon, and personally one of my top fashion and beauty inspirations. Her fashion line boasts beautiful structure and lines. One half of Britain's "other royal family" Victoria rules the fashion world with an iron fist, having recently launched another successful denim and accessories line. Her makeup hasn't changed much from her Posh Spice days, it has only become more chic and polished. Her signature smokey eye and nude lip can be adapted for any event, outfit, day or night. Here is a lighter daytime version of her signature look that Victoria has been sporting more and more often. Face: 1. Victoria has oily skin so a primer is a must. Pop a little all over your face, making sure to blend down your neck. Jessie's Pick: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 2. Smooth a cream foundation over your face, blending it down your neck. Jessie's Picks: Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation or Rimmel Match Perfection Cream Foundation. 3. Dot
