Lady in Red

*cue Lady in Red by Chris de Burgh" Anyone else love a good wrap dress? I can't get enough of them! They're just so flattering, no matter your body type.  As someone who's incredibly short (4'11 short) sometimes finding the right dress can be a task. Shopping for a dress goes from fun to torture very quickly! Every dress I try on, either the torso is too long, sleeves too long, the top is too low cut, etc But with wrap dresses, you can adjust how low cut the front is and because the waist is cinched you can get away with it being a little but long.  This red wrap dress is from Just Fab (can you tell they're a fave spot to shop?). I wear a size medium and it fits perfectly! I could definitely fit a small, but I generally size up as I like to avoid the dress being it being too tight in the arms and shoulders.  You can find the link to this exact dress, here .

How to Stay Cosy During the Winter

(Photo by Paige McNeely)  Happy New Year! This week I have decided to bring you my favourite way to stay cosy in the winter. So grab a tent and let's have some winter fun! ... Yes, I did say tent.  My roommates and I decided to set up a tent in our living room, and once filled with blankets and pillows it the perfect escape from the cold. After we all get home, we snuggle up inside and turn on our favourite TV show, which happens to be Real Housewives of Vancouver (Paige is going to kill me for saying that).  Hot chocolate and cozy pajamas are of course a must! My choice will always be  these  leopard ones from Target but as you can't get them in Canada anymore, adore me has some super cute sets, some girlie and some more classic.  I have to say the best hot chocolate by far is that cookie flavoured one... I think it's honestly just called chocolate chip cookie hot chocolate, I unfortunately can't remember the brand! Light some candle...

Rainy OOTD + May Favourites!

Today's OOTD features my new good friend- Mr. Umbrella. It has been raining a lot here recently, and the grey dreariness reflects my mood lately, so I ventured just outside my front door to quickly snap some outfit pictures. This outfit is very comfortable, and to be honest, I put my makeup on and got dressed at #pm just to take these pictures. My dress is from Forever 21, shoes are from Aldo, and on my lips is Mac's Velvet Teddy which is definitely a new favourite. It has been in my makeup bag for ages and I never really loved it. Now it's matte texture and perfect warm beige is my go to.  For today's Whatever Wednesday video I filmed for you my May Favourites. You can watch the video here . Outfits for Cold Spring/Summer Days

Cute Warm Outfits For Spring Men and Women   Hello everyone! I know that I keep saying that it is summer, however it really is still only the beginning of June, so the consistent hot weather is still a ways away. Today was quite windy and chilly, so I thought that I would create an outfit set based on the weather. Here are 4 ways make your summer outfits warmer and still cute! 1. Wear A Long-Sleeve Shirt (or Dress) . Adding sleeves can warm up and outfit instantly, and you can always find nice long-sleeve shirts and dresses in summery colours. There are lot's of options for lighter materials and bright colours so as not to be too warm and drab. Long sleeve maxi dresses and tunics are favourites for spring, and they are some of the most versatile pieces. 2. Wear Tights or Pants.  If you have decided to wear a dress add some nylons or tights underneath. If you want to add a pop of colour there is an infinite variety of coloured and textured tights. They can really sp...

OOTD: Vintage Polka Dots

Summer is finally here! Even though today was grey and cold it didn't discourage me from breaking out this new polka dot dress! The skirt is so flowy, and the dress has a such a flattering neckline that I fell in love with it when I saw it at the thrift store. As a student on a budget thrifting has become a nice, new  and gentler on the pocketbook   hobby. I found this dress and loved the a-line cut and vintage feel. I matched my makeup to the dress by going for a simple turquoise cat eye.  The dress is from O'Neill, shoes are from Aldo, and nail polish is Plum Power by Sally Hanson. Hope you are all enjoying the summer and sunshine! x Jess

Spring Outfits- Featuring Green

Welcome to Spring! With the weather being above zero almost everyday, I think I can dare to say that spring has arrived. Although I'm not a fan of the mud or water (you're looking at someone who hates messes) I do love the fresh warm air and the cheery spirit that spring brings. Along with the warmer weather comes bright and cheerful fashions! Goodbye drab woolen sweaters and clunky winter boots, hello peach dresses and heels. I thought that I would put together a couple of outfit sets, of different kinds and styles, to help provide some inspiration for all your new spring outfit choices. I decided to have a little fun and incorporate something green into every outfit. Although not very green out right now, we should start to see some nice grass and a few perfect little buds on the trees.  The first outfit is for a night out, or if you like to be fancy like me, an everyday pretty ensemble. A pink or peach a-line dress creates an elegant silhouette while a well-cut,...

Style Saturday: Capes and Knits

Happy Saturday! Today it was 5 degrees here so I finally got to break out my cape. I've been seeing them in all of the magazines and cursing Canadian weather for being so cold. But alas my luck has changed and we have had a warm spell! This cape I bought at a vintage store about 5 years ago and haven't really worn it until now, but my style has developed since then and I thought I'd be more daring and try it. My jeans are from H&M, the knit sweater was a Christmas present, it is from American Eagle, and I really like the way that the different textures of the cape and sweater make the outfit more interesting. My boots we just bought today and they are from the Shoe Company.  I haven't been wearing makeup much this week since I am just at home and I really didn't feel like putting on makeup just to take these pictures, so it is just my face in these pictures. On my nails is Rimmel's Chic Chick, and I curled my hair with the BeLissPro Cu...

Style Saturday: Winter Woollies

Welcome to Style Saturday! Today was nice, sunny and only -12 (yes you read that right). It's my first full day home for the Winter break so I spent it enjoying my family and decorating our Christmas tree. I decided to be comfy today so I chose to wear a warm knit turtlenecked jumper and some high-waisted jeans. The knit sweater is my Mom's and I think quite old so I'm not too sure wear it if from; it has really nice detailing on the sleeves and that just makes the sweater a little bit more glam. The jeans are from Sirens and are very stretchy. I prefer the dark wash jeans as they hide a multitude of sins like that half round of cheese I just ate . Even though they are highwaisted they are still comfortable to sit in and that is a win in my books. The outfit was super comfy, simple and warm which is perfect for our Canadian winter.  For my beauty routine I kept it very simple with well moisturized skin, natural makeup and I just wore my hair in a ponytail....

Fashion Friday: Rainy Day Jeans and Plaid Shirt

Hello everyone! Today's Fashion Friday is another outfit of the day. Today was very grey and a little rainy so I wanted to wear something that didn't take tons if brain power to come up with. I chose classic dark wash skinny jeans and a plaid button up. This button up is tailored at the back which makes it more feminine and flattering, and all I did was roll up the sleeves to make it less "dowdy" looking. My jeans are from American Eagle, the top is from Stitches, and I just wore my "cheapies" from Walmart. "Cheapies"= cheap comfy shoes. On my lips I'm wearing Revlon Soft Nude, and on my nails I have Sally Hanson Red Carpet nail colour.  On another note: I reached 10 subscribers on YouTube! And that just made my day, thank you so much and if you haven't subscribed make sure you do because there will be a giveaway once I reach 100 subscribers. If you click on the video link at the bottom of the post it will whisk you away to ...

Style Saturday: OOTD

My photographer was getting fancy with the camera. Hello everyone! Welcome to my first OOTD post. Today I went for a simple classic outfit. I wanted to be comfortable as I was just going to be around my house and running a few errands. So ultra glamour wasn't need.  I paired my black skirt from TopShop with a turquoise detailed top from Fairweather, and my shoes were just simple black wedges from Walmart (they were only $5). I also filmed a video about how to dress your "pear" bodyshape. I have a detailed post about this body type already written, and you can find that here . This outfit is great if your pear shaped because it highlights your waist and minimizes the hip area. The splash of colour uptop draws the eyes upwards.  I hope you enjoyed this post and I look forward to posting more about fashion and personal style, I'll leave with this super cute pic of my sweet doggy.  My sweetheart decided he wanted to show off his newly g...

Fashion Friday: Going Camping (Wardrobe)

Hello everyone! Next weekend my friends and I are going camping so I thought   would do a little two part series on camping. If you are like me, an indoors person, camping can seem very daunting, but I think it is important to keep an open mind. So I must practice what I preach and enjoy this camping trip and the beach. Please keep in mind that I am indeed bringing other non-beauty and fashion related things.  Long Sleeved Shirts. You never know what the weather is going to be like (especially in Canada) so long sleeved shirts are a must. They are perfect for the nights when it gets cold, or if it is raining you can wear them during the day. The two that I am bringing are super soft and work well with layers underneath. I also think there is nothing cuter than a vest with a long sleeved shirt underneath.  T-Shirts, Plaid Shirts, and Track Pants. Basically comfy clothes. Stuff that you can throw over your bathing suit or wear at night around the camp fire. Of ...

Super Sunday: Spring Fashion Haul

Hello Everyone! Sorry for my lack of posts, if you follow me on Twitter you will know I am the middle of production for a play right now, therefore I have no time for anything. That aside, today's post is just a quick spring haul. Last week my Mum and I popped into Stitches  for a browse and came out with all of this. First off, I got 15 pairs of socks for $5 (yes, you read that right). I got 2 packs of black and white patterns and one pack which is all vibrant neon coloured (not pictured). I got a very spring-esque peach, pink, and brown patterned scarf. This is so comfortable, soft, and warm; it goes perfectly with my jacket which is khaki green. I also grabbed some of their Aloe Makeup Remover Wipes. I picked up three cardigans, two which are two-toned (one black/grey the other beige/cream) as well as a peach coloured one. They are like big comfy wraps that are perfect for the chill in the morning, yet light enough as the weather warms throughout the day. I got th...

March Favourites 2014

Welcome to my March Favourites 2014 Post! Unlike last month, which was mostly skin and hair care products, this month most of my favourites are beauty products. Only two of these products were actually purchased in the month of March, but they quickly became favourites. My first favourite is Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream , and I have this in the shade Light/Medium Tint. I have not worn foundation since January, instead I've been wearing this everyday. I read about it on Anna Saccone's blog and it is just a magnificent product. This is a gel based BB cream or tinted moisturizer. It has SPF 30 and creamy not too heavy texture. This provides a sheer coverage, however if you do have blemishes or acne scars, use this in conjunction with a heavy duty concealer like Vichy Dermablend or Maybelline Super Stay and it will provide a more natural looking base. You can apply this with your fingers or a brush, and if you have slightly oilier skin it blends beautifully with a powde...

Style Sunday: Week's Fashion Inspiration Lookbook

Hello Everyone! Today's Style Sunday is this week's fashion inspiration lookbook. It is definitely supposed to be spring outside, but since it snowed about a foot last night, I'm going to be adding my winter cozies to all my spring clothes again.  Monday. It is supposed to be warm and sunny tomorrow but because it is going to be Monday I've turned to Mrs. Beckham for outfit inspiration as she always wears comfortable yet chic outfits. Not mention this one is all black which will suit my mood just fine. Tuesday. Another Queen of Comfy, Jessica Alba's oversized sweater, leggings, and boots outfit will be a welcome change on a cold Tuesday morning. There is nothing better then crawling out of warm and cozy pajamas into a warm and cozy outfit. Wednesday . It is supposed to have warmed up by Wednesday so a cute black dress with warm tights and ankle booties seems to be a good option. Thursday. Kim Kardashian has been loving the pencil skirt trend, ...
