Style Spotlight: Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham's style is envied by many people in the fashion world. After a number of successful seasons, her fashion line exhibits her love of clear cut lines, neutrals, and versatility. Not everyone has a million dollar budget to spend on clothes, but if you invest in a few select and classic pieces, you can achieve Victoria Beckham's classic look with a much cheaper price tag. Victoria's style is one that flatters almost every single body type, especially petite ladies, which is one of the reasons why her fashion line is so successful. The overall goal is to have a small neutral wardrobe that is versatile, and streamlines your body.
Here are 5 general guidelines to follow, when shopping, that we can steal from Mrs. Beckham, to help us achieve this classic look:

1. Dark colours are your best friend. A dark colour recedes, therefore wearing a darker shade, like black, dark grey, or navy blue, will minimize anything you wish to hide. It will also allow you to highlight another feature by wearing another light or more bright shade. Pairing a bright red top with a black pencil skirt will emphasize your upper half. This outfit will draw attention to your bust and shoulders, and will skim over and slim your waist and thighs. Dark colours are also incredibly versatile and work for any occasion.

2. Buy your clothes in neutral shades.  Neutrals go with everything, letting you mix and match your wardrobe. Having a small capsule wardrobe, comprised of key classic items, in neutral shades, will give you the freedom to create different outfits by mixing and matching. Pick items that flatter your body shape, and that create a streamlined effect to make you appear longer and leaner.

3. Have a statement bag. Make your one splurge a high quality and versatile bag. Brown, or black leather will wear the longest and the best, and will be able to be paired with almost any outfit.

4. Invest in a good quality black blazer. It can serve to dress up a casual outfit, or make a dressy outfit more casual. The blazer is one of the most classic and versatile items a lady can own.

5. Always wear high heels. They lengthen you, and a good pair of shoes pulls any look together. Invest in a good pair of black and nude pumps, as well as a quality pair of brown boots. Experiment with different styles of heels, and find the one that makes you feel the most comfortable.

Makeup Monday: Victoria Beckham Makeup Look

Victoria Beckham is a style icon, and personally one of my top fashion and beauty inspirations. Her fashion line boasts beautiful structure and lines. One half of Britain's "other royal family" Victoria rules the fashion world with an iron fist, having recently launched another successful denim and accessories line. Her makeup hasn't changed much from her Posh Spice days, it has only become more chic and polished. Her signature smokey eye and nude lip can be adapted for any event, outfit, day or night. Here is a lighter daytime version of her signature look that Victoria has been sporting more and more often. Face: 1. Victoria has oily skin so a primer is a must. Pop a little all over your face, making sure to blend down your neck. Jessie's Pick: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 2. Smooth a cream foundation over your face, blending it down your neck. Jessie's Picks: Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation or Rimmel Match Perfection Cream Foundation. 3. Dot
