Week of Favourites: Favourite Bright Lip Colours

Welcome the Week of Favourites! Kicking off my favourites lists are my favourite bright lip colours for spring. This is one of my favourite trends and makes for a super fast and easy morning beauty routine.  Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in Audacious and Lovesick. These balm stains are perfection! They are highly pigmented and very moisturising. The colour lasts all day and if you feel like you need a touch up the crayon style allows you to apply with ease and evenly with or without a mirror.  Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Siren. If can't already tell I am currently on an orange lip kick. This formula has a creamy texture and a creme finish. It layers well and has great lasting power. This lip colour is a must have for summer! Pupa Very Vintage Sheer Lipstick in Coral Dream. Like a baby version of Audacious and Siren this lipstick is exactly what is claims to be: sheer and vintage looking. This particular colour is a pinky coral and goes ...

Fab February: Vero Moda Clothing Haul

Hello!  Today's Fab February is a spring clothing haul from Vero Moda. There is only one store (that I know of) outside of Quebec and I have seen so many of their nice clothes on Anna Saccone's blog that I knew I had to go inside when I found it. They were having a sale, so I actually went back and picked up another two items. I truly believe in the rule that you should never buy anything full price.  Here are the items I picked up: I love the pattern and the high-low hem line of this button up. It is light and airy, and perfect for spring. The other is a wool knit sweater that has sequins all through and just the perfect pick me up on a cold rainy morning.  The first time I was there I got two dresses, both reduced from over $35 to $12.50. The first is a black shift dress with beaded detail on the sleeves. The other is a sweetheart neckline with sheer mesh over top. It is incredibly comfortable and breathable.  I hope you enjoyed this post and mayb...

Fab February: Angelina Jolie Makeup Look

(Picture Courtesy of Pinterest) Welcome to the first day of Fab February! I was at the movie theatre yesterday and I saw the trailer for Angelina Jolie's new film Maleficent , and I thought why not do an Angelina Jolie makeup tutorial. So today's look is based on the picture above, and I will be using the Tarte Beauty and the Box Eye Shadow Quad in In the Buff. These eye shadows are amazing, they are so smooth and silky and have excellent pigmentation. I have been using this quad for over a year, and it is perfect for neutral makeup looks. The colours compliment any eye colour, but blue eyes will especially benefit from the bronzey shades.  Alright enough rambling here is the Angelina Jolie inspired makeup look: Face: 1. Start with your favourite sheer-medium coverage foundation or tinted moisturizer and blend it all over your face and down your neck. Jessie's Picks : L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil-Free. 2. Apply...

Makeup Monday: Lily Aldridge Makeup

Lily Aldridge is a gorgeous model, and after having a not so great day I thought I'd do a model makeup look. This a fresh and bronzed makeup look, so if you can fake tan the night before or just tailor it to your skintone. Face: 1. Apply a gel or liquid bronzer all over your face as a base. Jessie's Picks: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector SPF 25++ in Topaz. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance Bronze. 2. Using a brush add some tinted moisturizer all over your face and down your neck. Jessie's Picks:  Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream SPF 30 in Medium. Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 in Shade 04. 3. Contour your face using matte bronzing powder. Apply it under your cheekbones, on the sides of your forehead, and under your jaw. As per usual Jessica Alba has made my list :) This outfit is my favourite because hse is all bundle up but still looking chic, which here in Canada is almost a daily feat. (Picture courtesy of celebmafia.com) 2. Reese Witherspoon. Of course she has also made the list! This is the second outfit of hers in the past few weeks in which she has been wearing bright pink/magenta. Maybe it's her new favourite colour? (Photo courtesy of www.reveal.co.uk) 3. Taylor Swift. I love black on black outfits and paired with her red lips this outfit is divine!  That's this week's round of favourite fashion looks. I hope you enjoyed them and were inspired by some of them! xx JD ...

Best Dressed at The Screen Actor's Guild Awards

Yay! It's another best dressed post. This past weekend was the Screen Actor's Guild Awards, and everyone looked stunning. Here are my favourite clothing picks from the red carpet: 1. Amy Adams. She looks amazing in this stunning shade of blue, and she is also definitely going on my fitness inspiration list. 2.Isla Fisher. I must say if she was channeling her inner Marilyn then she should do it more often. She looked stunning in her cream satin v-neck gown. It showed off her curves perfectly,as well as perfectly accented her hair. 3. Jared Leto. Not only can rock the long hair, but he can rock the red carpet looking sharp and sophisticated. 4. Lupita Nyong'o. Turquoise is definitely her colour. With matching eye makeup she gave a lesson on how to go matchy-matchy the right way. 5. Mayim Bialik. This by far the best lace overlay dress I have ever seen, with the lavendar and then black underlay, this is just perfection. And so is Mayim Bialik. Those are my top ...

Best Fashion Looks of the Week

It’s Fashion Friday! Time for my weekly round up of the best fashion looks from the past week. Because I did a separate Golden Globes look I am not going to include any outfits from there. However, coming up next week will be The Best Dressed at the SAG’s: So here we go top 3 outfits of the week: Jessica Alba. No surprise here, and I love how she rocks the white pumps. 2.Sophia Smith. Regardless of what any “directioners” have to say about her, the lady can dress herself, and this outfit is just another prime example. Reese Witherspoon. Leave it to Reese Witherspoon to rock a peplum AND leopard print heels in the same outfit. I hope you enjoyed my picks, and are looking forward to the SAG’s as much as I am! Xx JD

Golden Globes Best Dressed Picks

Award Season is finally here! And starting off with the Golden Globes, here are my favourite outfits: 1. Reese Witherspoon. She is so cute! And one of my biggest fashion inspirations. 2. Kerry Washington. I cannot get over how gorgeous this lady is! 3. Amy Adams. I saw this colour combination a number of times on the Red Carpet... Not quite sure if I like it but she looks beautiful in it! 4. Not only is she amazing in Blue Jasmine , but she is amazing on the Red Carpet. 5. Melissa McCarthy. One of my favourite comedic actresses and a knockout on the Red Carpet. I hope you enjoyed these picks! I thought long and hard about them. I have had questions about best and worst dressed lists, but I would like to state that I only condone positive comments and for me worst dressed lists are not positive. They chose what they wore and, hopefully, they liked their pick, and that is all there is to it. This is all my own opinion and feel free to disagree. On t...

Best of Beauty 2013

Happy New Year! Another year has gone by, and that means another (or my first!) beauty favourites post. Here are my beauty favourites of 2013:            1.  Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee.  I love this product as an everyday lip colour, it is creamy and quick to use.                 2.  Rimmel's Paradise and Airy Fairy; Mac Velvet Teddy; Revlon Siren . All of these lip sticks are called upon time and time again and they never fail me. The first three are the perfect neutrals, and Siren is my favourite special occasion lip stick. Thanks Jessica Alba for the suggestion!                        3.  Revlon Colourburst Lip Gloss in Bordeaux; Clinique Lip Gloss in Glamour-Full . These lip glosses are both opaque and are not over powering when worn. I never wear red lip stick because it doesn't suit my lip shape, b...

What I got for Christmas 2013:

Hey guys! Sorry my blogmas kind of dwindled away, but I was really sick for the last week. SO I am now hopefully getting back into blogging regularly. So here's what I got (that it beauty related) for Christmas 2013: 1. Urban Decay Naked Palette. I'm a little late jumping on this band wagon, however I have heard so many amazing things about this palette that I am super excited to try it. My first impressions are that the eye shadows are very pigmented. 2. Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Black . This is the only liquid eye liner that I can use, and Stila does not irritate my eyes, or smudge, and it is the perfect shade of black. 3. Too Faced Beauty Blogger Darlings . This is the cutest gift set! The bronzer is so matte and smells like chocolate. I will do a review of all of the products in the set once I have used them all up. 4. Giorgio Armani Aqua di Gioia . This is my favourite perfume! and I am utterly in love with it. It is not too strong...

Makeup Monday (Late): Winter Dark Lip Trend

The dark lip, à la Tom Ford, is a major trend and favourite during the fall/winter season. The lipstick can range anywhere from a more wine red to a deep and dark purple. Below is a simple makeup look that would be great for an evening out, but could also be adapted for daytime. Face: 1. Start by using a luminous foundation, preferable one that is quite light. Because we are going so dark on the lips we want to keep the rest of the face very light. Jessie's Picks: Nars Sheer Glow Foundation or Maybelline Fit Me Foundation. 2. Conceal under the eyes and any blemishes. Jessie's Picks: My usual, Mac Studio Finish Concealer for blemishes, and Clinique Airbrush Concealer for the undereyes. 3. Apply a very light warm peach blush just to your cheekbones to add a slight definition to the face. Jessie's Picks: Avon Blush in Dusty Rose or Lancome Blush in Cedar Rose (but be very very light handed with this blush). Eyes: 1. Dust a light matte cream coloured eye shadow all ov...

Style Spotlight: Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham's style is envied by many people in the fashion world. After a number of successful seasons, her fashion line exhibits her love of clear cut lines, neutrals, and versatility. Not everyone has a million dollar budget to spend on clothes, but if you invest in a few select and classic pieces, you can achieve Victoria Beckham's classic look with a much cheaper price tag. Victoria's style is one that flatters almost every single body type, especially petite ladies, which is one of the reasons why her fashion line is so successful. The overall goal is to have a small neutral wardrobe that is versatile, and streamlines your body.  Here are 5 general guidelines to follow, when shopping, that we can steal from Mrs. Beckham, to help us achieve this classic look: 1. Dark colours are your best friend. A dark colour recedes, therefore wearing a darker shade, like black, dark grey, or navy blue, will minimize anything you wish to hide. It will also allow you to high...

Whatever Wednesdays: Victoria Beckham Hair How-To

Victoria Beckham Ponytail: With her long dark brown hair, Victoria Beckham's hairstyle of choice has become the ponytail. This style is quick, and ultra chic. 1. Start with day-old hair (or even if you are starting with freshly washed hair) and spritz with a volumizing dry shampoo. 2. Pull your hair back with your fingers, smoothing over any stray hairs. 3. Once you have your ponytail in the desired place, fasten with a hair tie. 4. Take your straightener and run it over the ends of your ponytail, to give it a sleek effect. 5. Add a tiny dot of shine serum to the ends. Simply rub the serum between your palms, and run your hands over the end of your ponytail. Voila! Tu es fini, and you have a simple and chic hairdo. xx JD Please leave me a comment let me know what you think!  If you have any questions or suggestions: Email me: jessicadonna96@gmail.com

Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Campaign Makeup

I know it is and old campaign, but I have always loved the look. So, I decided I would write a quick (or maybe not so quick) tutorial about it. It's a glowing, bronze, summery look; which is everything I need right now since it has been getting quite cold where I live. Face: 1. Start by mixing a bronze illuminator in with your foundation, a liquid bronzer works perfectly well if you don't have one. Preferably pick one that has SPF.  Jessie's Picks: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector SPF 25++ in Topaz. Clinique Even Better Foundation SPF 15. 2. If  you like you can now powder your face with a very fine finishing powder.  Jessie's Picks: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. Make Up For Ever HD Powder Eyes: 1. Apply a dark bronze cream eye shadow all over your eyelid. Then take a fluffy eye shadow brush, and blend the edges and the crease, softening all harsh edges. Jessie's Picks: Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for Eyes in Fuller Fudge 2. Run a bit of the cream s...

Naturally Glamorous Everyday Makeup

Face: 1. Start by applying a tinted moisturizer to fresh and clean skin. Blend well into the skin and apply a second layer where any extra coverage or moisture is needed. 2. Follow up by applying a highlighting and illuminating concealer under your eyes, and slightly thicker concealer over any blemishes or imperfections you wish to conceal. 3. Apply a cream blush in a cool pink or peach shade just along your cheek bone, and a slightly brighter shade to the apples of your cheeks. This will give you a healthy pop of colour. Remember to blend, blend, blend. Tip: If you can see a line of blush on your face, you haven't blended the edges enough. 4. If you like you can set your face with a translucent powder, or you can leave the makeup as is for a dewy glow. Eyes: 1. Apply a matte cream coloured shadow all over your lid. 2. Next blend a matte brown shade into your crease, and the outer corner of the eye. This will elongate the eye and make it appear wider. 3. Line your upper la...
