Let's Chat: Self Care

What is self care? Is it face masks every Sunday night? Bath bombs and wine?

For me, self care is investing in yourself. Buying quality skincare & haircare products, fuelling my body with better food choices, having big goals and believing I can achieve them; that's my kind of self care.  During this period of isolation, it's hard to remember to do things for yourself, since you are at home all the time and uncertain when you'll be able to leave again. I've been living out of a suitcase for over a month now, and sometimes it does take its toll.

Yes, I know that I am a lucky one. I am at my parents house, I have a job, food to eat and a place to sleep, but I still found myself not take care of my mental health and letting the dreariness of the unknown affect me deeply.

So I’ve decided to use this time to focus on some small goals to give me something to look forward to and work towards, and all of those goals revolve around self care.
I’m notorious for working myself to exhaustion. Taking on way too much and then crashing and burning, and getting incredibly sick, so I decided to make my goal for quarantine to be to focus on self care. ⁣ Because sometimes your just have to choose yourself! ⁣
Self Care Goals: ⁣
- follow a skincare routine morning and night (no more sleeping in makeup, or just using cleansing water)⁣
- follow a haircare routine (less heat styling, more leave in conditioners and treatments) ⁣
- complete a 30 days to healthy living challenge (cure my coffee and sugar addiction, make better food choices) ⁣
- send four kind messages a day on Instagram (because spreading kindness is such a beautiful form of self care) ⁣
Could one say these are selfish goals? 100% but at a time like this, taking care of yourself and your health will also positively impact others. ⁣ When you put your happiness first, you’ll inspire others to do the same!

What are your current goals?

Anna Edwin is a Norwegian blogger. She began her blog in 2009 and she blogs about everything from hair to bowling (well maybe not actually bowling). If you want to check out Anna's blog click  here  (her blog is obviously in Norwegian so you'll have to press the translate button). I searched her blog and tried to use the same products that she does. Let's get started on her makeup look! Face: 1. Start with your favourite face primer. Whatever Wednesdays: Victoria Beckham Hair How-To

Victoria Beckham Ponytail: With her long dark brown hair, Victoria Beckham's hairstyle of choice has become the ponytail. This style is quick, and ultra chic. 1. Start with day-old hair (or even if you are starting with freshly washed hair) and spritz with a volumizing dry shampoo. 2. Pull your hair back with your fingers, smoothing over any stray hairs. 3. Once you have your ponytail in the desired place, fasten with a hair tie. 4. Take your straightener and run it over the ends of your ponytail, to give it a sleek effect. 5. Add a tiny dot of shine serum to the ends. Simply rub the serum between your palms, and run your hands over the end of your ponytail. Voila! Tu es fini, and you have a simple and chic hairdo. xx JD Please leave me a comment let me know what you think!  If you have any questions or suggestions: Email me: jessicadonna96@gmail.com

Throwback Everyday Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone! If you know me, you'll know that I have a slight makeup problem... I have way too much! But I can't help it, I just love it so, and I honestly look forward to putting my makeup on every morning. So today I decided I would do a quick post on my fave go to glam look for daytime. It looks quite heavy, but because I'm using mineral makeup it feels like I'm wearing no face makeup at all! My skin is quite sensitive and dry, so for the longest time I thought that mineral makeup wouldn't work for my skin, but boy was I wrong! I was at Winners recently and saw that they had a couple Bellapierre Cosmetics mineral makeup sets on sale for $14... So I thought I'd try it out, and now I can never go back to regular liquid foundations! Mineral makeup is considered to be better for your skin as it is natural, and usually only contains 3-4 natural ingredients. Bellapierre foundation has an SPF of 15 which can cause a little bit of flashback, so if ...
