Spring Inspired: Bright Eyes and Purple Lips

Today's makeup look is inspired by Spring! Although here Spring seems to be playing tricks on us as it is currently snowing while I'm typing away. Oh well! Maybe we can entice Spring into returning with our bright lipstick.

I started off by priming my skin with Benefit the Porefessional. This primer fills in my pores and keeps make base makeup on all day. For my foundation, I chose L'Oreal Lumi Foundation in N1, which leaves my skin with a nice glowy finish, which is a nice refreshment from the Winter mattes. As a highlighting concealer is used Rimmel 2 in 1 Match Perfection Concealer. I applied this in a triangle under my eyes, around my nose, on my forehead, and along the sides of my chin.  To conceal my blemishes I chose Revlon Colourstay Concealer. It is my favourite concealer to cover any type of blemish or imperfection. To powder my skin and set all of this makeup in place I reached for my handy Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. This is just a translucent powder, and keeps my skin looking matte for a good 4-5 hours. Next is my absolute favourite step contouring! I used Benefit's Hoola Bronzing Powder, and built it up to a relatively strong contour, but nothing too extreme. Instead of wearing a blush I decided just to add a highlight, and to do that I went with Mac Strobe Cream. I think using a cream highlight gives a softer more youthful finish.

Onto the eyes! Starting off I filled in my eyebrows using the e.l.f Brow Kit in Dark. To povide a base for my eyeshadow I applied a cream eyeshadow, and I chose Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Barely Branded (I believe this is a dupe for Mac's Paint Pot in Bare Study). For the entire eye look I used the Clinique Eye Shadow Quad in Choco-Latte. First I dusted the shimmery white shade across my eyelid, focusing on the inner corner, and under my brow. Next going back to Benefit's Hoola, a applied that through the crease as a contour. Then on a small, flat eyeliner brush I created a cut crease, and then blended it out with a tapered eye shadow brush.  Along my upper waterline I used Essence Long Lasting Eyeliner in Hot Chocolate, this created soft definition.  I then dotted Annabelle Eye Kohl in Black Ink along the outer third of my upper lashline, and then smudged it using the same dark brown I used in my crease.  I then curled my lashes and applied 2 coats of Maybelline Illegal Lengths Mascara in Black

For the lips, which are of course the main attraction, I first applied  the Maybelline Colour Whisper in A Plum Prospect, which is a bright fuchsia/purple lipstick-balm hybrid. And over top of that just to give it a bit more depth and colour, I applied the Maybelline Colour Elixir in Vision in Violet.

That is the finished look!

I love these awkward shots.

Makeup Monday: Victoria Beckham Makeup Look

Victoria Beckham is a style icon, and personally one of my top fashion and beauty inspirations. Her fashion line boasts beautiful structure and lines. One half of Britain's "other royal family" Victoria rules the fashion world with an iron fist, having recently launched another successful denim and accessories line. Her makeup hasn't changed much from her Posh Spice days, it has only become more chic and polished. Her signature smokey eye and nude lip can be adapted for any event, outfit, day or night. Here is a lighter daytime version of her signature look that Victoria has been sporting more and more often. Face: 1. Victoria has oily skin so a primer is a must. Pop a little all over your face, making sure to blend down your neck. Jessie's Pick: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 2. Smooth a cream foundation over your face, blending it down your neck. Jessie's Picks: Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation or Rimmel Match Perfection Cream Foundation. 3. Dot
