Spring Outfits- Featuring Green

Welcome to Spring! With the weather being above zero almost everyday, I think I can dare to say that spring has arrived. Although I'm not a fan of the mud or water (you're looking at someone who hates messes) I do love the fresh warm air and the cheery spirit that spring brings. Along with the warmer weather comes bright and cheerful fashions! Goodbye drab woolen sweaters and clunky winter boots, hello peach dresses and heels. I thought that I would put together a couple of outfit sets, of different kinds and styles, to help provide some inspiration for all your new spring outfit choices. I decided to have a little fun and incorporate something green into every outfit. Although not very green out right now, we should start to see some nice grass and a few perfect little buds on the trees.  The first outfit is for a night out, or if you like to be fancy like me, an everyday pretty ensemble. A pink or peach a-line dress creates an elegant silhouette while a well-cut,...

Spring Inspired: Bright Eyes and Purple Lips

Today's makeup look is inspired by Spring! Although here Spring seems to be playing tricks on us as it is currently snowing while I'm typing away. Oh well! Maybe we can entice Spring into returning with our bright lipstick.   I started off by priming my skin with  Benefit the Porefessional . This primer fills in my pores and keeps make base makeup on all day. For my foundation, I chose  L'Oreal Lumi Foundation in N1, which leaves my skin with a nice glowy finish, which is a nice refreshment from the Winter mattes. As a highlighting concealer is used Rimmel 2 in 1 Match Perfection Concealer . I applied this in a triangle under my eyes, around my nose, on my forehead, and along the sides of my chin.  To conceal my blemishes I chose Revlon Colourstay Concealer . It is my favourite concealer to cover any type of blemish or imperfection. To powder my skin and set all of this makeup in place I reached for my handy Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder . Thi...

Spring Bright Lips Trend 2015

From L-R: Yves Rocher Sheer and Shine Lipstick in No1, Revlon Just Kissable Balm Stain in Audacious and Lovesick, Yves Rocher Rouge D'Ragee in No 66, Revlon Lipstick in Siren  Welcome to March! Which also means Happy Spring! Although if your weather is anything like where I live it still feels like the dead of winter. But that doesn't mean that we can't embrace the warm and sunny lipsticks that go along with Spring (and maybe the nice Spring weather will take the hint and make an appearance).  There are so many options out there so it is impossible not to find something for everyone. And none of the choices have to be expensive, all of the lip colours pictured are from the drugstore yet are still fantastic quality and have great pigmentation.  The many different (and cheaper) options can help try out all sorts of different colours, and formulas. An opaque lipstick can be a little scary, so it may be best to start off with a more sheer formula. There are ma...

Super Sunday: Spring Fashion Haul

Hello Everyone! Sorry for my lack of posts, if you follow me on Twitter you will know I am the middle of production for a play right now, therefore I have no time for anything. That aside, today's post is just a quick spring haul. Last week my Mum and I popped into Stitches  for a browse and came out with all of this. First off, I got 15 pairs of socks for $5 (yes, you read that right). I got 2 packs of black and white patterns and one pack which is all vibrant neon coloured (not pictured). I got a very spring-esque peach, pink, and brown patterned scarf. This is so comfortable, soft, and warm; it goes perfectly with my jacket which is khaki green. I also grabbed some of their Aloe Makeup Remover Wipes. I picked up three cardigans, two which are two-toned (one black/grey the other beige/cream) as well as a peach coloured one. They are like big comfy wraps that are perfect for the chill in the morning, yet light enough as the weather warms throughout the day. I got th...

Makeup Monday: Country Vacation Makeup

Hello Everyone! Welcome to Makeup Monday. Today’s makeup look is a simple nude makeup which reminds me of a vacation in the English countryside. It is inspired by earth tones like mossy greens, beiges, mauves, and greys. This makeup is perfect if you are actually going on vacation in the English countryside, or if you just want to sport a fresh light makeup look. Face: 1. Start with a freshly washed and moisturized face. Directly on top of your moisturizer apply a matte foundation. This will give you a natural looking face, without all of the powder. Jessie’s Picks: Clinique Stay Matte Oil Free Foundation. Maybelline 24hr Super Stay Makeup. 2. Take a cream blush in a rosy pink shade and blend it up along your cheekbone. Using a cream blush will give you more of a glow like you have just come in from the cold outside. Jessie’s Picks: Makeup Forever HD Blush in English Rose. Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in Flushed. That’s the face done! If you’d like you can dab a sh...

Spring Ballerina Makeup

Hello Everyone! Happy April J Today’s makeup look is ballerina inspired. Lancome’s Spring 2014 line is called French Ballerine and features Lily Collins. This look is perfect for spring as it is delicate, fresh, pink and just reminds me of flowers. Face: 1. Start off by applying a tinted moisturizer or BB cream to your freshly moisturized skin. You can use your finger or a brush, either way, make sure to blend down your neck. We want the skin to be as fresh and dewy as possible so a tinted moisturizer and no face powder is the best option. Jessie’s Picks: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. Laura Mercier Tinted Moiturizer- Oil Free. 2. Next take a creamy concealer and blend it under your eyes, around your nose, and on any blemishes. Jessie’s Picks: Mac Studio Finish Concealer. YSL Touche Eclat. 3. Blend a baby pink blush onto the apples of your cheeks and up along your cheekbones. You can choose a cream or powder form blush, whatever you feel most comfortable working wit...

Style Sunday: Week's Fashion Inspiration Lookbook

Hello Everyone! Today's Style Sunday is this week's fashion inspiration lookbook. It is definitely supposed to be spring outside, but since it snowed about a foot last night, I'm going to be adding my winter cozies to all my spring clothes again.  Monday. It is supposed to be warm and sunny tomorrow but because it is going to be Monday I've turned to Mrs. Beckham for outfit inspiration as she always wears comfortable yet chic outfits. Not mention this one is all black which will suit my mood just fine. Tuesday. Another Queen of Comfy, Jessica Alba's oversized sweater, leggings, and boots outfit will be a welcome change on a cold Tuesday morning. There is nothing better then crawling out of warm and cozy pajamas into a warm and cozy outfit. Wednesday . It is supposed to have warmed up by Wednesday so a cute black dress with warm tights and ankle booties seems to be a good option. Thursday. Kim Kardashian has been loving the pencil skirt trend, ...

Beauty Thursday: Maybelline Super Stay Foundation Review

Hello Everyone! Welcome to Beauty Thursday. Today I am going to be doing a review of one of my favourite drugstore foundations. Foundation: Maybelline Super Stay 24hr Foundation Packaging: It comes in an open top glass bottle with a screw on cap. It does not come with a pump in North America.  Shade: Classic Ivory. This is not the lightest shade; it is currently a little bit dark for me but if I blend it down my neck you can't tell. Coverage: Medium - Full. You can sheer out this foundation by mixing it with moisturizer, or you can wear it full coverage.  Finish: Matte. Claims: Withstands heat, sweat and humidity.  No transfer- won't rub off.  Flexible, breathable coverage.  Oil-Free.  Suitable for all skin types.  Does it measure up?  Withstands heat, sweat and humidity. True, it does last a long time and there is no need for touch ups.   No transfer- won't rub off. Unfortunately this isn't t...

Week's Fashion Inspiration Lookbook

Hello everyone! This week I though I would do something different; I'm combining Fashion Friday and Style Saturday making: Super Style Sunday. This post is my weekly inspiration lookbook. It's my outfit inspiration for each day of the week. I plan out my weeks outfits on Saturday or Sunday and usually each one is inspired by either the runway or celebrity. Along with the outfits I plan my hair and lipstick. My lipstick is really the only makeup thing that changes daily, my face and eye makeup pretty much always stays the same. So here are this week's fashion inspirations:  Monday: The Duchess of Cambridge. She has impeccable taste and makes jeans look elegant. The first of these outfits was worn in Canada :) So I just had to replicate it! I will be pairing my Sirens High Waisted Jeans (Size 26/30, keep in mind I'm 5'2), a simple black tank top, this men's blue blazer (used to be my brother's but now he's too tall, lol) and a pai...

Fashion Friday: Menswear Inspired Fashion

Recently, many female celebrities have been rocking menswear inspired outfits. It is a trend I think everyone should try once. It works great for the office, school, or just everyday. Here are some examples of menswear inspired outfits along with some tips and tricks to getting the look just right. Tip to steal: When wearing a three piece suit, try to pick fitted items. A fitted and slightly cropped suit jacket will look more flattering than an oversized one which will only dwarf your figure. Many designers make fitted women's dress pants, and these are the best and most flattering options.   Tip to steal: Try wearing menswear in light or pastel colours. If you have chosen a more structured and less fitted piece, try it in a more feminine hue. Since it's spring (fingers crossed) pastel colours are all the rage. Tip to steal: Pairing a dress shirt with shorts and loafers is a great casual androgynous summer outfit. It creates a very classic and timeless shape. Ch...

Super Sunday: My Spring Makeup Bag

Welcome to Super Sunday the Spring Edition.  These are the current products in my makeup bag. There are always many different items that are in and out of my bag, but these are the ones that I have been using everyday for the past month.  Avon Perfect Look Color Palette in Cool. This palette comes with four lip colours, four eye shadows, two blushes, and a powder. All of them are for cool toned skin and so are super flattering. I just use the powder from this palette but I like having it around because it gives me options.  Avon Colour Fold Up Palette . I use the darkest blush from this palette, it is a shimmery peachy pink shade. Again another huge palette that contains lots of bright eye  shadows perfect for spring.  Clinique Choco-Latte Eye Shadow Quad . I use the darkest colour from this quad for my brows. I fill them in using a little angled brush. Almay Intense Eye Color Trio for Hazels. These shadows are super pigmented and last all day. I use...

Welcome back to my weekly fashion favourites! I am bringing this weekly post back. Here are my top fashion picks of the week: 1. While attending Paris Fashion Week Jessica Alba rocked a  super chic colour block coat with  a matching blush pink bag. 3.  Fresh off the Oscars Amy Adams looked sweet and comfortable while out with Academy Award Winner Cate Blanchett. 4. Emma Watson took travel wear to a new level pairing black and white with a neutral coat.  I hope you enjoyed these fashion favourites of the week. This will come back as a weekly thing. I am planning on posting every: Makeup Monday, Whatever Wednesday, Fashion Friday and Style Saturday or Super Sunday. xx JD

Megan Fox Makeup Look

Today's makeup look is inspired by the lovely Megan Fox. It is a sweet daytime look that focuses on long lashes, defined brows, and stained lips. This is perfect for enhancing all of your features but does not make them compete for focus. So let's get started! Face: 1. Start by taking a tinted moisturizer or BB cream and, using a foundation brush, blend it all over your face and down your neck. Using a foundation brush will help you get the most coverage out of the product. Jessie's Picks: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. Mac Studio Moisture Tint. 2. Using a matte bronzer and a fluffy face brush, dust the bronzer wherever the sun naturally hits your face. Make sure to also apply some down your neck to prevent tide marks. Jessie's Picks: Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. Nars Laguna Bronzing Powder. 3. Blend a shimmery peach blush along your cheekbones, sweeping upwards. Jessie's Picks: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin. Yves Rocher ...

February Favourites 2014

Welcome to my first ever monthly favourites! I was actually planning on doing a January favourites but by the time I got around to it it was already almost the 7th of January I thought it was probably a bit too late. So this is the official Beauty DotFashionSpot first! Because it is still incredibly cold here in Canada and was for the entire month of February, most of my products are hair care and skin care related products. I hope you enjoy this post and try out a few of these products! My first product is Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Intensely Smooth Leave-in Conditioning Cream . This is a very thick and creamy leave in conditioner which almost feels more like a balm. It isn't greasy or heavy it just melts right into your hair and helps keep it moisturized. I find the ends of my hair get really dry and this product has actually prevented them from getting as crispy as usual.  Clean and Clear Morning Glow Moisturizer SPF 15. This is what I have been using as a...
