Beauty on a Budget: Drugstore Makeup Must Haves

Hello lovelies! Welcome to Makeup Monday! Today's post is my much requested: Drugstore Makeup Must Haves. All of the products are tried and true and have been repurchased at least once. As you shall soon see my biggest drugstore loves are lip sticks. However I did narrow it down to just 6 "items". It's actually more but whatever! Who's counting?

1. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. This is what I have been wearing as foundation since January. I used it during the summer and than purchased it in a lighter shade and fell in love with it all over again. It can be applied with your fingers or a brush and gives a gorgeous sheer coverage with a glowy finish. This is not for you if you want a lot of coverage from your foundation but if you use a heavy concealer this product is great for layering over top. It never cakes, has an SPF 30 and is oil-free. I own it in two shades: Light/Medium and Medium tint.

2 .Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush. These blushers come in little pots, and have a mousse like texture. I own them in Pink Frosting and Peach Satin. Both of these colours contain shimmer but I love shimmery blushes so that is not a problem. This is a quite dry formula but it blends super easily with a brush or your fingers. I think this packaging and formula has been discontinued but Maybelline's new one Dream Bouncy Blush has the same colours and (from what I've read/heard) has an even better formula. I prefer these over the Revlon Photoready Cream Blushes, I find these blend easier and don't sit on top of your skin.

3. NYC Individual Eyes Custom Compact. This is the first drugstore eye shadow palette I ever bought, and it is definitely one of the best. This palette contains both matte and shimmery eyeshadows as well as comes with an eye shadow base and highlighter. I have the palette in Union Square which is for brown eyes, however it comes shades for blue, green, grey, or hazel eyes. The shadows have great pigmentation and a silky smooth texture. This is a great palette for beginners.

4. Maybelline Illegal Lengths Mascara. This is a must have mascara. I have repurchased it many times and every time it is wonderful. The wand is pretty standard, but it doesn't over coat the lashes and make them clumpy. The formula is supposed to add 4mm of length to your lashes. I'm not sure about that but it definitely adds wonderful length and separates the lashes.

5. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Stick. This lip stick comes in a million different shades with multiple finishes. Their is one for everyone. I have them in Siren, Love That Red, Blushing Mauve, and Icy Violet. The colours are opaque and wear beautifully. They can  be worn with or without  lip liner. If you blot and reapply the colour a couple times it will last even longer. The fact that this lip stick comes in so many shades and textures make this a great drugstore buy. You can also find a few high end dupes amongst them.

6. Revlon Lip Butters. I adore these lip butters! They are the perfect starter lip colour. They are so sheer and come in such a variety of colours that a beginner can't go wrong. The formula is creamy and quite moisturizing. I own them in Strawberry Shortcake, Sugar Frosting, Creme Brulee, Pink Truffle, and Sugar Plum. You can get them with glitter, shimmer, or creme finishes. The only downside is that you don't get a whole lot of product, however they often go on sale so you can get more bang for your buck.

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you are looking for some new drugstore buys, are just starting out with makeup, or are on a budget, I highly recommend all of these products.

xx

Fab February: Anna Edwin Makeup

Anna Edwin is a Norwegian blogger. She began her blog in 2009 and she blogs about everything from hair to bowling (well maybe not actually bowling). Her hair and makeup is always flawless, nice and bronzed.  So I thought it would be perfect for spring and to warm us all up. If you want to check out Anna's blog click  here  (her blog is obviously in Norwegian so you'll have to press the translate button). I searched her blog and tried to use the same products that she does. Let's get started on her makeup look! Face: 1. Start with your favourite face primer. Makeup Monday: Victoria Beckham Makeup Look

Victoria Beckham is a style icon, and personally one of my top fashion and beauty inspirations. Her fashion line boasts beautiful structure and lines. One half of Britain's "other royal family" Victoria rules the fashion world with an iron fist, having recently launched another successful denim and accessories line. Her makeup hasn't changed much from her Posh Spice days, it has only become more chic and polished. Her signature smokey eye and nude lip can be adapted for any event, outfit, day or night. Here is a lighter daytime version of her signature look that Victoria has been sporting more and more often. Face: 1. Victoria has oily skin so a primer is a must. Pop a little all over your face, making sure to blend down your neck. Jessie's Pick: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 2. Smooth a cream foundation over your face, blending it down your neck. Jessie's Picks: Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation or Rimmel Match Perfection Cream Foundation. 3. Dot
