Super Quick and Easy Bronze Eye Makeup

Hello everyone! Today's look is a quick and super simple bronze eye makeup. It is fresh, goes fabulous with any eye colour, and is great for days when you want to channel your inner Greek goddess.  1. Starting off, take a cream shimmery taupe eye shadow and apply it all over your eye lid. Slightly blend out the edges using your fingers.  Take a bit of product on a small eyeliner brush and run the colour along your lower lashline.  2. Next take a cream shimmery champagne eye shadow and apply it to the inner corner of your eye using your ring finger. I used Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Barely Branded .   3. Take a flat eye shadow brush and add a dark bronze eye shadow onto the outer v of your eyelid, then blend it up into the crease. I used Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Smog from the original Naked Palette. Pop a little bit of the colour along the outer half of your lower lashline.  4. Grab a fluffy eye shadow brush and blend out the edges of yo...

Beauty Tuesday: Favourite Nude Lipsticks

Hello everyone! I'm officially back from the land of pre-production mindlessness. Since I've been gone it has turned into May so it time to break out the pretty spring lip colours. I prefer nude lip colours all year round but especially during the spring and summer. So today's post is my favourite nude lipsticks. From L-R: Rimmel Kate Lip Stick 14, Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Stick in Asia, Revlon  Super Lustrous Lip Stick in Blushing Mauve,Revlon Lip Butters in Creme Brulee and Pink Truffle, Mac Matte Lip Stick in Velvet Teddy. Rimmel Kate Lipstick Shade 14. This is a matte finish very pale nude lipstick. It works perfectly with a heavier smokey eye, and it lasts for ages. I find this colour washes me out a tiny bit if I just wear it on its own. It is definitely meant to be paired with a dramatic eye.  Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Asia. A browny-pink shade this lipstick is great for everyday. It has a semi matte finish and great lasting power. It is the pe...

Beauty on a Budget: Drugstore Makeup Must Haves

Hello lovelies! Welcome to Makeup Monday! Today's post is my much requested: Drugstore Makeup Must Haves. All of the products are tried and true and have been repurchased at least once. As you shall soon see my biggest drugstore loves are lip sticks. However I did narrow it down to just 6 "items". It's actually more but whatever! Who's counting? 1. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. This is what I have been wearing as foundation since January. I used it during the summer and than purchased it in a lighter shade and fell in love with it all over again. It can be applied with your fingers or a brush and gives a gorgeous sheer coverage with a glowy finish. This is not for you if you want a lot of coverage from your foundation but if you use a heavy concealer this product is great for layering over top. It never cakes, has an SPF 30 and is oil-free. I own it in two shades: Light/Medium and Medium tint.  2 . Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush. These blushers...

Style Saturday: Lipstick and Nail Polish Haul

Hello! Welcome to Style Saturday. As you can tell from the title this is not a fashion style post but a makeup-style post. I recently picked up a number of lip products as well a few nail polishes and I thought I would share them: These are the lip products I picked up . From L-R: Rimmel Lasting Finish in Asia, Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish in 14, Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish in 104, Revlon Super Lustrous in Blushing Mauve, Revlon Super Lustrous in Icy Violet, and Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Too Cool. Rimmel Lasting Finish in Asia. This is a mauve/brown shade that is in between Airy Fairy and Paradise. I really like the formula and finishes of Rimmel lip sticks so I think this will be a great daily neutral lip colour. Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish in 14.  I have never tried the Kate Moss line so I thought I would try this shade. It is a nude/pink shade that has a matte finish. I think this will be great with a smokey eye or winged liner. Rimmel Kate Lasting F...

February Favourites 2014

Welcome to my first ever monthly favourites! I was actually planning on doing a January favourites but by the time I got around to it it was already almost the 7th of January I thought it was probably a bit too late. So this is the official Beauty DotFashionSpot first! Because it is still incredibly cold here in Canada and was for the entire month of February, most of my products are hair care and skin care related products. I hope you enjoy this post and try out a few of these products! My first product is Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine Intensely Smooth Leave-in Conditioning Cream . This is a very thick and creamy leave in conditioner which almost feels more like a balm. It isn't greasy or heavy it just melts right into your hair and helps keep it moisturized. I find the ends of my hair get really dry and this product has actually prevented them from getting as crispy as usual.  Clean and Clear Morning Glow Moisturizer SPF 15. This is what I have been using as a...

Fab February: Bright Spring Lipsticks (Haul)

Today's Fab February is the final part of my spring series as well as a mini haul. My favourite makeup look for spring is light eyes with a bright lip. Keep your face and eye makeup light with just a tinted moisturizer, a champagne eye shadow, and a nice rosy blush. After you've done that pop on a bright lip and enjoy the sunshine. Now on to the haul. Here are some bright sheer lipsticks that I picked up the other day: \ 1. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Sugar Plum, Pink Truffle, and Strawberry Shortcake . I love these lip butters! I already have Sugar Frosting and Creme Brulee which are perfect for winter, but I wanted some brighter colours for spring. Shoppers was having a sale, so I picked up 3 to get me through the spring. Once I have worn them all for a while I shall write a review. 2. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick. This is the most gorgeous fuchsia I have ever seen. I also have another balm stain in Honey which is perfect for a ...

Fab February: Kim Kardashian Bridal Shower Makeup

Welcome to day three of Fab February. Today's makeup look is inspired by Kim Kardashians' bridal shower makeup. Yes, I know that her marriage only lasted 72 days but that was almost 3 years ago and her bridal shower makeup is still gorgeous 3 years later. So why not do a pretty makeup in the midst of cold and blustery February. This makeup look has a nice flawless base, warm eyes, and sweet pink lips. Face: 1. Start with a moisturizing primer and blend it all over your face with your fingers or a brush. Unless it is actually your bridal shower you don't have to use a photo friendly primer, so don't worry about finding one. Jessie's Picks: Smashbox Photo Finish Hydrating Foundation Primer. Korres Greek Yoghurt Nourishing Primer. 2. Pick a sheer to medium coverage luminous foundation and apply it with a buffing brush. Jessie's Picks: L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation. Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. 3. Next take a pink cream blush and blend it ...

Current Favourite Lipsticks.... and Big Announcement!

For about the past month I have been wearing the same eye and face makeup everyday, and I have really liked having the same everyday routine. For me there has been something very calming and reassuring about doing the same thing every morning. However I am still a lover of change and so I have been using different lip sticks depending on my mood (which I think a lot of people do?) and there are about 5 that I turn to on various days. 1. Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee and Sugar Frosting. I love these lip butters for the days when I don't feel like making the commitment to lip stick and I just want something that gives my lips a bit of colour and finishes off my makeup. Creme Brulee is a nude brown shade that almost blanks out your lips, but in a good nude lip kind of way (great description I know). Sugar Frosting is a cool toned sheer frosty pink and is basically like a "your lips but better" colour. Both are very hydrating and creamy and can be applied without a ...

Winter Style Basics

I realize that, especially in Canada, winter has been in full swing for the past 4 months, but let's be in the mindset that it is almost spring! And for the month of February we can resort to a few basic clothing choices to keep us warm and sane. These clothing items are the ones that get me through the last bit of winter by keeping me warm, dry, and stylish at the same time. No need to plan out your outfit you can pick any of these items and throw them on together. Here are my top late winter style basics that will do all the styling for you: 1. Slim Black and/or Grey Pants . Pack your jeans away for the month of February and grab your favourite pair of comfortable black or grey pants. They can be any material or size, my favourite pair are made of a wool like material and slightly loose. Black and grey pants can be paired with any outfit, and are versatile winter colours. 2. Knit Sweaters. These are available everywhere and now are all on sale. They come in different knits, co...

Makeup Monday: Lily Aldridge Makeup

Lily Aldridge is a gorgeous model, and after having a not so great day I thought I'd do a model makeup look. This a fresh and bronzed makeup look, so if you can fake tan the night before or just tailor it to your skintone. Face: 1. Apply a gel or liquid bronzer all over your face as a base. Jessie's Picks: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector SPF 25++ in Topaz. Laura Mercier Foundation Primer in Radiance Bronze. 2. Using a brush add some tinted moisturizer all over your face and down your neck. Jessie's Picks:  Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream SPF 30 in Medium. Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 in Shade 04. 3. Contour your face using matte bronzing powder. Apply it under your cheekbones, on the sides of your forehead, and under your jaw. Jessie's Picks: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder. 4. Apply a bronzey-rose cream blush to your cheekbones and blend upwards. Jessie's Picks: Elizabeth Arden Cream Ce...

Casual Sunday: Jessica Alba Inspired Hair and Makeup

(Pictures courtesy of Pinterest)  Jessica Alba is the Queen of casual style. So today's hair and makeup duo is all inspired by her. And as you probably guessed from the pictures, it is going to be a simple ponytail and fresh faced makeup look (my favourite!). This look can work any day of the week but  Mondays and Fridays instantly come to mind. So here we go and hope you enjoy: Let's start with the hair: This look works best on day old hair, but you have just gotten out of the shower, scrunch a thickening mousse through your hair and then blow dry smooth with a paddle brush. Regardless of where you started take a large paddle brush and brush your hair back into a high ponytail. Now you can either pull your hair back super sleek or looser and more casual, both work for this look and as it is casual Sunday do which ever makes you feel more comfortable. Slightly tease your ponytail to create volume. And voila! That is the hair done. Now onto the makeup...

Top Knot Bright Lip Makeup Pinterest Inspired

I was on Pinterest earlier today and I got  lost in all of the pictures of models with top knots and bright lips, and so I was inspired to recreate their look. It is clean, and simple skin and eyes with a pop of bright on the lips. I love this look for the upcoming dreary winter days. It'll be a quick and gorgeous option when you want to sleep in a little more. Face: 1. Start with a creamy tinted moisturizer, and blend it well into your skin, making sure to bring it down your neck. Jessie's Picks: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer. 2. Dust your face with a powder to lock in your tinted moisturizer, and prevent any unwanted shine. Jessie's Picks: Clinique Stay Matte Pressed Powder. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. 3. Blend a peach cream blush along your cheekbones. Jessie's Picks: Stila Covertable Color in Gladiola. Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin. Eyes: 1. Fill in your eyebrows with a br...

What's in My Travel Makeup Bag?

I have had a number of requests for this post, and I thought now would be a good time to do it since a lot of people are going away on the weekends or on holiday. Most of these products are just in my everyday makeup bag, but a lot of them I have in a travel size, to make them more convenient to carry. By no means are there fewer products, I tend to bring things "just in case" which leads to a lot of unnecessary items being brought along.  So this is what I pack when I am just going to visit family, or whatever, but they can be tapered to wherever you are going whether it is hot or cold there. It is currently rainy and cold in Canada, so let's pretend we're going away on a nice ski weekend, to sip hot chocolate and watch all the skiers go down the hill. Pictures to come! 1. Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer in the Travel Size . This is my go-to primer. It helps with redness, it moisturizes, and it creates a gorgeous base for makeup. The fact that it comes in a conveni...
