Winter Style Basics

I realize that, especially in Canada, winter has been in full swing for the past 4 months, but let's be in the mindset that it is almost spring! And for the month of February we can resort to a few basic clothing choices to keep us warm and sane. These clothing items are the ones that get me through the last bit of winter by keeping me warm, dry, and stylish at the same time. No need to plan out your outfit you can pick any of these items and throw them on together. Here are my top late winter style basics that will do all the styling for you:

1. Slim Black and/or Grey Pants. Pack your jeans away for the month of February and grab your favourite pair of comfortable black or grey pants. They can be any material or size, my favourite pair are made of a wool like material and slightly loose. Black and grey pants can be paired with any outfit, and are versatile winter colours.

2. Knit Sweaters. These are available everywhere and now are all on sale. They come in different knits, colours, lengths, styles, etc. These are one of the best inventions ever because you don't have to worry about what bra your wearing or if you need a sweater, you can just pick one and go. They also can be layered over other shirts to keep you warm if you are outside. These will be your best friend in February!

3. A Statement Coat. Pick a coat that you love, and that makes you feel gorgeous when you put it on, regardless if you are wearing a paper bag underneath. If you are running errands, and you want to feel nice and put together but without a lot of work have a coat you can throw on and go. My go-to is a black and gold Ivanka Trump coat with fur detail.

4. A Warm Scarf. Scarves pull any outfit together and actually do keep you warm in the winter. If it is really cold outside a heavy knit scarf is a great way to go. If it is slightly warmer pick one with a fun and uplifting print. Style and warmth!

5. Knee High Statement Boots. Other than your heavy and clunky winter boots have a pair of black or brown statement boots that will make you feel posh. Riding boots work great, if you want to make it a heel pick a chunkier heel so as not to get caught in the snow or slip on the ice. A lot of designers now create heeled boots with treads on the bottom. My favourite boots are 6 inch heeled black suede with a snakeskin pattern on the heel and platform.

These 5 basic pieces will give you a stylish outfit that will keep you warm in the -40 weather as well as keep you sane until spring. Hopefully Mr. Groundhog won't see his shadow and we won't have 6 more weeks of winter!

xx

New Year's Eve is the perfect day/night to sport sparkling silver eye makeup, and who better to look to than Kim Kardashian. Eyes: 1. Prep your eye with a base. Be it a cream shadow, a paint pot, or an actual eye shadow primer, it does not matter, it just gives the  eye shadow  and glitter something to adhere to. Jessie's Picks: Urban Decay Primer Potion. Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Dangerous Cuvee. Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Eye Shadow in Galaxy. 2. Apply a matte grey eye shadow all over the lid. Jessie's Picks: Stila Eye Shadow in Diamond Lil. Nars Single Eye Shadow in Lhasa. 3. Using a flat eye shadow brush apply a subtle glitter all over your lid, don't worry if any falls on your skin, as you can wipe it away before you apply your foundation. Jessie's Picks:  Make Up For Ever Glitter in Silver 2. Mac Pigment in Silver Fog. 4. Take a black gel eye liner, and line your upper lash line, creating a flick. Jessie's Picks: Bobbi Brown Gel Eye Li

Fab February: Anna Edwin Makeup

Anna Edwin is a Norwegian blogger. She began her blog in 2009 and she blogs about everything from hair to bowling (well maybe not actually bowling). Her hair and makeup is always flawless, nice and bronzed.  So I thought it would be perfect for spring and to warm us all up. If you want to check out Anna's blog click  here  (her blog is obviously in Norwegian so you'll have to press the translate button). I searched her blog and tried to use the same products that she does. Let's get started on her makeup look! Face: 1. Start with your favourite face primer. Makeup Monday: Victoria Beckham Makeup Look

Victoria Beckham is a style icon, and personally one of my top fashion and beauty inspirations. Her fashion line boasts beautiful structure and lines. One half of Britain's "other royal family" Victoria rules the fashion world with an iron fist, having recently launched another successful denim and accessories line. Her makeup hasn't changed much from her Posh Spice days, it has only become more chic and polished. Her signature smokey eye and nude lip can be adapted for any event, outfit, day or night. Here is a lighter daytime version of her signature look that Victoria has been sporting more and more often. Face: 1. Victoria has oily skin so a primer is a must. Pop a little all over your face, making sure to blend down your neck. Jessie's Pick: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer 2. Smooth a cream foundation over your face, blending it down your neck. Jessie's Picks: Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation or Rimmel Match Perfection Cream Foundation. 3. Dot
