American Hustle Inspired Smokey Eye

(Courtesy of temptalia.com)

Today's post is bit of a mash up, I thought why not do a smokey eye with the Naked Palette, but then add a little inspiration from American Hustle... And thus this makeup look was born: A smokey eye using the shade "Hustle" from the Urban Decay Naked Palette!

Face:
1. Start with a light BB Cream and blend it well into your skin. You can use your fingers or a brush depending on what type of coverage you would like. Jessie's Picks: Maybelline Dream BB Cream. Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream.

2. Apply a peachy-pink blush along your cheekbones and blend upwards. Jessie's Picks: Nars Blush in Orgasm. Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin.

3. Dust your face with a translucent powder to set your BB cream. we are not going to go too heavy on the face, because we want the eye to be the focus, and you don't want to look overly made-up. Jessie's Picks: Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. Clinique Stay Matte Sheer Pressed Powder.

Eyes:
1. Fill in your eyebrows using a waxy brow pencil, and really create a strong arch. Jessie's Picks: Anastasia Brow Wiz. Clinique SuperFine Liner for Brows.

2. Apply an eye shadow primer all over your eyelid, on your brow bone, and under your lower lash line. Basically any place that you will be putting eye shadow. Jessie's Picks: Urban Decay Primer Potion. Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer (review coming soon).

3. On a fluffy brush take Urban Decay's "Toasted" and blend it all over your eye lid and into your crease.

4. On a smaller brush take the eye shadow into the inner corner of your eye, and along the inner third of your bottom lash line.

5. On a fluffy crease brush take "Hustle" and apply it in the crease and outer corner of your eye. Blend this colour, and then apply more until you reach the desired intensity.

6. On the same small brush you used with "Toasted" take "Hustle" and apply it along the outer third of your lower lash line.

7. Taking a clean eye shadow brush, blend the colours along your lower lash line to create a gradient affect. Lighter "toasted" into darker "Hustle".

8. Grab a black kohl eye pencil and line your upper and lower waterlines, including your inner corner. Make sure the line is deep and black. Jessie's Picks: Guerlain The Original Creamy Kohl Kajal Eye Liner. Laura Mercier Kohl Liner Extreme.

9. Curl your eye lashes and apply 3 coats of a rich black  volumizing mascara. Jessie's Picks: Benefit BadGal Lash Mascara. CoverGirl LashBlast Volume.

10. Now take a creamy concealer and using a brush apply it under the eyes to clean away and fall out, and make the makeup appear sharper. Jessie's Picks: Mac Studio Finish Concealer. Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer.

Lips:
1. Apply a sheer creamy pink lip colour all over your lips. Don't choose one that it too opaque, make sure it is very sheer to allow the eye to be the focus. Jessie's Picks: Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter in Sugar Frosting. YSL Rouge Volupte in 1 Nude Beige.

And that is all! Maybe if you are planning to go and see American hustle soon you may want to wear this look. I am definitely planning on wearing it.

Whatever Wednesdays: Victoria Beckham Hair How-To

Victoria Beckham Ponytail: With her long dark brown hair, Victoria Beckham's hairstyle of choice has become the ponytail. This style is quick, and ultra chic. 1. Start with day-old hair (or even if you are starting with freshly washed hair) and spritz with a volumizing dry shampoo. 2. Pull your hair back with your fingers, smoothing over any stray hairs. 3. Once you have your ponytail in the desired place, fasten with a hair tie. 4. Take your straightener and run it over the ends of your ponytail, to give it a sleek effect. 5. Add a tiny dot of shine serum to the ends. Simply rub the serum between your palms, and run your hands over the end of your ponytail. Voila! Tu es fini, and you have a simple and chic hairdo. xx JD Please leave me a comment let me know what you think!  If you have any questions or suggestions: Email me: jessicadonna96@gmail.com

Throwback Everyday Makeup Tutorial

Hello everyone! If you know me, you'll know that I have a slight makeup problem... I have way too much! But I can't help it, I just love it so, and I honestly look forward to putting my makeup on every morning. So today I decided I would do a quick post on my fave go to glam look for daytime. It looks quite heavy, but because I'm using mineral makeup it feels like I'm wearing no face makeup at all! My skin is quite sensitive and dry, so for the longest time I thought that mineral makeup wouldn't work for my skin, but boy was I wrong! I was at Winners recently and saw that they had a couple Bellapierre Cosmetics mineral makeup sets on sale for $14... So I thought I'd try it out, and now I can never go back to regular liquid foundations! Mineral makeup is considered to be better for your skin as it is natural, and usually only contains 3-4 natural ingredients. Bellapierre foundation has an SPF of 15 which can cause a little bit of flashback, so if ...
